Quick installation guide for the Zipato MicroModule Motor Controller (PAN08), a Z-Wave in-wall roller shutter/motor controller with position feedback.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Quick installation guide for the Zipato MicroModule Motor Controller (PAN08) — an in-wall Z-Wave micromodule for controlling roller shutter/motor loads, with position feedback and calibration.

    Introduction

The in-wall MicroModule Motor Controller is designed to raise/lower a roller shutter connected to its terminals, using radio waves, controllers, or a push button wired directly to the controller. It's a Z-Wave™-enabled transceiver fully compatible with any Z-Wave network. Its slim design lets it hide inside a standard wall box, keeping the room's decor clean.

The module's smart relay calibration technology reduces the inrush current caused by the load, letting it work reliably with many kinds of roller shutter motors.

    Position Feedback

The controller can detect the shutter's position using a patterned power-measuring method, allowing it to be remote-controlled not only fully up or fully down but also adjusted to intermediate positions (e.g., 30% or 50%). When manually controlled via the push button, the controller also memorizes the position and reports the new shutter position back to its controller (e.g., an IP-Gateway).

    Features

    • Newest Z-Wave 400 series chip, multichannel operation, higher data rate (9.6/40/100 kbps)
    • Z-Wave protocol for secure two-way wireless communication
    • Higher RF output power (+2.5 dBm vs. −2.5 dBm on 300 series Z-Wave modules) for enhanced communication range
    • Zero-crossing technology extends switching cycle life
    • Slim design for easy installation
    • Max load up to 1100W
    • After calibration, feeds back roller shutter position
    • Overload protection
    • Z-Wave V6.02; very low standby electricity consumption, meeting EU energy-related products directive 2009/125/EC no. 1275/2008

    Wiring & Terminals

Terminal layout: NEUTRAL, LIVE, S1, S2 (input terminals for external switch/push button), plus NC1 and NO1 relay output terminals. Application: In-wall switch, 2-relay, 1A and 1C type. In the 1C-type wiring, a common (COM) terminal is used with NC1/NO1 to drive the motor's up/down directions; in the 1A-type wiring configuration, only the normally-open contacts are used. L (line) and N (neutral) feed the module and the motor circuit.

    Safety Warnings

    • All work on the device should only be carried out by trained and skilled electricians, observing country-specific regulations.
    • Risk of electrocution / fatal injury from electric current. The device has no basic insulation and must be installed in a way that protects against accidental contact.
    • Connected devices and the flush-mounted receiver can be damaged if operated outside their technical specifications.
    • When installing a wall plate, maintain at least 4mm of clearance between the cover's fixing brackets/screws and the flush-mounted module's connections — use a deeper installation box if this clearance can't be met. Only insulated tools should be used when working on the device.
