    Specification sheet for the Zane AC2 Two-Wire, Low-Voltage AC Dimmer — a low-voltage (12/24VAC) dimmer for incandescent lighting, installed on the low-voltage side of a magnetic step-down transformer. (This is the original incandescent-only spec sheet for the AC2 series; see also the updated version covering AC-rated LED module compatibility.)

    Overview

    The Zane Two-Wire, Low-Voltage AC Dimmer blends safe-to-the-touch 12 or 24 VAC power with the superior illumination qualities of low-voltage incandescent lighting. It installs on the low-voltage side of a magnetic step-down transformer for easy system design, fast installation, and individual fixture control — using the same two-wire hookup as a standard toggle switch, with no grounding wire, bypass wire, or component matching required. An existing toggle switch can be directly replaced with zero wiring system modification.

    A triac-based "pi" trigger circuit with a low-firing-point diac delivers flicker-free, wide-band dimming performance from a warm glow through full-spectrum halogen brightness while minimizing waste heat and maximizing efficiency. A heavy RF noise filter (about 10x the suppression of an ordinary filter) attenuates interference with nearby radios and other electronics. Rotary adjustment provides a crisp, smooth feel with tactile on/off, and soft start/end extends bulb life. An included adjustment potentiometer lets you fine-tune minimum brightness on the fly.
