    Quick installation guide for the Zipato Door/Window Sensor (NE-NAS-DS01Z), a battery-powered Z-Wave Plus sensor that monitors door/window open/close status.

    Overview

    This sensor is a Z-Wave Plus enabled device (two-way RF mesh networking) fully compatible with any Z-Wave enabled network/controller, not just Zipato's own gateways. It monitors a door or window and sends a Z-Wave signal when opened or closed, and can associate with other devices (like a wall plug, siren, or lamp module) through the Z-Wave gateway to automate responses. This is a security-enabled Z-Wave product using encrypted messages — a security-enabled controller is recommended for full functionality.

    Installation

    Option One — Screw Mount

    Disassemble the door sensor main body and take out the battery. Fix the main body on the door with screws. Disassemble the deputy (magnet) body and fix it on the corresponding doorframe position.

    Option Two — Sticker Mount

    Put the included sticker on the bottom of the door sensor, then fix it on the wall/frame surface.

    Note: The deputy (magnet) body must be installed on the bulge side of the main body. When the door is closed, the gap between main body and deputy body must be less than 2cm for the app to correctly register "closed" status; when open, the gap must exceed 2cm to register "open."

    Adding to Z-Wave Network (Inclusion)

    1. Disassemble the main body by pressing the disassemble button, then install the battery. After power-on, do not operate it for 20 seconds.
    2. Place the door sensor within Z-Wave range of the gateway.
    3. Set the Z-Wave gateway into inclusion mode (refer to gateway's manual).
    4. Press the code button on the door sensor three times continuously — the sensor enters inclusion mode and the LED flashes red 5 times alternately.
    5. Sensor will be detected and included in the network; wait for the gateway to configure it.

    Removing from Z-Wave Network (Exclusion)

    1. Make sure the door sensor is powered on.
    2. Set the Z-Wave gateway into exclusion mode.
    3. Press the code button three times continuously — LED flashes red 5 times.
    4. Wait for the gateway to remove the sensor.

    Restoring Factory Default Settings

    This deletes all Z-Wave network information and restores factory defaults.

    1. Remove the cover of the main body and confirm it's powered.
    2. Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds — LED flashes red 5 times alternately.
    3. Release the button.

    Use this procedure only if the primary controller is missing or inoperable; keep the sensor powered throughout the process.

    LED Status Indicator

    • 1 flash (red): Sensor triggered (open/close event).
    • 5 flashes (red): Battery just installed, or inclusion/exclusion/reset events.
    • Off (normal state): No LED activity under normal operation.

    Association Groups

    This sensor supports 4 association groups (Association Command Class Version 2), each supporting up to 5 associated devices:

    • Group 1 (Lifeline): Assigned to sensor status (Open/Close). Sends reports/readings whenever triggered. Supports NOTIFICATION_REPORT, BATTERY_REPORT, SENSOR_BINARY_REPORT, DEVICE_RESET_LOCALLY_NOTIFICATION.
    • Group 2: Sends control commands (BASIC_SET) to associated devices such as relay modules or lighting. Configured via advanced parameters 1 and 2.
    • Group 3: Sends NOTIFICATION_REPORT to associated devices.
    • Group 4: Sends SENSOR_BINARY_REPORT to associated devices.

    Advanced Configuration Parameters

    • Parameter 1 — OFF Delay: 2 bytes, 0-65535 seconds. Adjusts the delay before the OFF command is transmitted after the sensor closes. 0 = send OFF immediately; 65535 = maximum 65535-second delay. Default: 0 seconds.
    • Parameter 2 — Basic Set Level: 1 byte, values 0, 1-99, or 255. 0 = OFF/alarm cancel; 1-99 or 255 = ON (Binary Switch) or dim level (Multilevel Switch). Default: 255.

    Battery & Wakeup

    Battery life is approximately 1 year. Battery level (0-100%) can be queried via BATTERY GET command; a value of 0xFF indicates dead battery. The sensor stays dormant most of the time to conserve battery, waking on a configurable interval (minimum 300s/5 min, maximum ~194 days, adjustable in 60-second steps). Default wakeup interval is 12 hours — a larger value extends battery life.
