Compatibility guide for determining whether your existing Yale lock can accept the Yale Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Upgrade Kit (August-branded smart module).
Compatibility guide for determining whether your existing Yale lock can accept the Yale Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Upgrade Kit (August-branded smart module).
Look at your lock's keypad for a checkmark (✓) and gear (⚙) icon printed near the keypad. Compatible models display both icons on the keypad face — this applies across Yale's touchscreen keypad, button keypad, and chrome/silver button keypad variants.
Look for a Smart Module slot located just above the battery compartment on the interior side of the deadbolt. If your lock has this slot, the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Upgrade Kit (an August-branded network module) can be inserted directly into it — no additional hardware or door prep is required.
If both the checkmark/gear icons and the Smart Module slot are present, your Yale lock is compatible with the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Upgrade Kit. If either is missing, the lock is not compatible and would require a different upgrade path (e.g., a full lock replacement with a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth-capable model).
