Before You Begin

Master PIN Code must be created before any further programming. Maximum user codes depend on network module:

• 250 users — with Z-Wave Plus or ZigBee network module
• 25 users — without network module, or with iM1 network module
• 12 users — with Bluetooth

Creating the Master PIN Code

Must be done upon installation or after a factory reset — programming and use of the lock is not possible until this step is complete.

1. Press the gear key to begin ("Register Master Code").
2. Enter a 4-8 digit PIN code, followed by the gear key.
3. Lock confirms "Registered."

Creating User PIN Codes

Master PIN code must be created first.

1. Enter Master PIN code, press gear key.
2. Lock responds "Menu Mode, enter number, press the gear key to continue."
3. Enter the User PIN Code Registration menu option, press gear key.
4. Enter a new 4-8 digit PIN code (code flashes to confirm).
5. To add more user codes, repeat; to end programming, press the appropriate exit key.

Unlocking with a PIN Code

Enter PIN Code, press the check key.

Factory Settings

Resetting Lock to Factory Default

Warning: resetting deletes ALL user codes (including the Master PIN code) and resets all programming to defaults.

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
2. Remove the interior escutcheon to access the reset button (located beside the PCB cable connector).
3. While pressing the reset button (minimum 3 seconds), reinstall batteries. Release the reset button.
4. Replace the battery cover.

After reset, creating a new Master PIN Code is the only available option, and must be done before any other programming.

Key Feature Definitions

• All Code Lockout Mode: Enabled by the Master code — restricts all user (except Master) PIN code access. A red locked padlock icon appears when a code is entered during Lockout.
• Automatic Re-lock Time: After a successful unlock, the lock automatically re-locks after 30 seconds (default).
• Inside Indicator Light: Shows lock status on the interior escutcheon (enable/disable via Advanced Lock Settings, Menu #3).
• Language Setting: English (1), Spanish (2), or French (3) — default voice prompt language.
• Low Battery: Warning indicator flashes RED. If power is fully lost, apply a 9V battery (either polarity) to the terminals below the touchscreen for backup power, then enter your PIN to unlock.
• Master PIN Code: Used for programming and feature settings; must be created before any other programming. Also operates unlock/lock.
• Network Module Setting: With the optional network module installed, available through Main Menu (7) — connects the lock to a network controller.
• One Touch Locking: When the latch is retracted, activating the keypad extends the latch. When disabled, any valid PIN code re-locks the lock.
• Privacy Mode: Disabled by default. Press the privacy button for 4 seconds to enable do-not-disturb mode (disables all PIN codes).
• Shutdown Time: Unit shuts down (flashing RED) for 60 seconds after 5 failed code attempts.
• Tamper Alert: Audible alarm if someone attempts to forcibly remove the outside lock from the door.
• Volume Setting: Low (default), High, or Silent — for quiet areas.

Feature Programming Menu Reference

Enter Menu Mode with the Master PIN code + gear key. Enter the digit for the desired function, followed by the gear key.

Network Module — Enrolling/Unenrolling

This lock supports security-enabled Z-Wave Plus or ZigBee network modules using encrypted messages. Must be used with a security-enabled controller to fully utilize implemented functions. Non-battery-operated nodes act as repeaters regardless of vendor, to increase network reliability.

Important: batteries must be removed before removing/inserting the network module — remove battery cover, remove batteries, remove/insert module, reinstall batteries, replace cover.

To Enroll (Inclusion Mode): Enter Master PIN + check key, then the appropriate menu keys per the network module's instructions.

To Unenroll (Exclusion Mode): Enter Master PIN + check key, then the appropriate menu keys per the network module's instructions.

Programming Troubleshooting

Hardware Troubleshooting

• Door is binding: Check door/frame alignment (should swing freely); check hinges for looseness or excessive wear.
• Bolt will not deadlock: Check clearance of bolt within strike-side jamb (may need to deepen the pocket); check bolt/strike alignment.
• Bolt doesn't extend/retract smoothly: Check bolt/strike alignment, door backset, hole boring, and that the keypad wire harness is routed under the bolt (correct side up).
• Keypad numerics are scrolling: Remove interior escutcheon, ensure the wire harness lies flat and is properly routed/tucked under the plastic cable guide.

Note: This lock has no mechanical key override. Yale recommends using additional entry points into the dwelling in case of lockout, despite built-in prevention features (9V jumper, low battery warnings).
