Yale Assure Lock Interconnected Touchscreen (YRC226/YRC426/YRC620) — Installation & Programming

Installation and programming instructions for the Yale Assure Lock Electronic Interconnected Touchscreen — models YRC226, YRC426, and YRC620. Available with a 4" or 5.5" touchscreen, and optional Network Module (Z-Wave Plus, ZigBee, iM1, or Bluetooth) — not available on YRC620.

Installation Overview

Full illustrated installation is a multi-step door-preparation process covered in detail in the downloadable PDF (marking reference lines, drilling holes, installing strike plates, determining handing, mounting the lock body and touchscreen). General steps:

1. Mark door reference lines using the included template and existing backset (2-3/8" or 2-3/4").
2. Drill mounting holes — drill halfway through the door from each side to prevent splitting.
3. Install strike plates (1" dia. holes at specified depths).
4. Determine door handing before mounting the lock body.
5. Install the exterior lock body, then the interior touchscreen assembly, routing the wire harness cleanly through the hook on the mounting plate.
6. Install batteries and battery cover.

Factory Settings (Out of the Box)

*The Master PIN code must be registered before any other programming can be performed.

Programming — Creating the Master PIN Code

Required immediately after installation or after a factory reset — nothing else can be programmed until this is done.

1. Touch the screen with the back of your hand or palm to activate it. Lock responds: "Register Master Code. Press the gear key to continue."
2. Press the gear key.
3. Enter a 4–8 digit Master PIN code, then press the gear key again to confirm ("Entered").

Creating User PIN Codes

Maximum user codes: 250 with a Z-Wave Plus or ZigBee network module; 25 without a network module or with the iM1 module; 12 with Bluetooth.

1. Enter the Master PIN code, press the gear key — lock enters Menu Mode.
2. Select the User PIN Code Registration menu option, then "Register."
3. Enter a 4–8 digit PIN code (it will flash), press the gear key.
4. To add more user codes, repeat; to finish programming, select "End."

Menu Mode — Feature Programming (YRC226)

Enter the Master PIN code + gear key to reach Menu Mode, then select a menu number:

• 1 — Master PIN Code Setting
• 2 — User PIN Code Registration (Register / Delete)
• 3 — Advanced Lock Settings: Automatic Re-lock (Disable / 30 sec / 60 sec / 2 min / 3 min), Inside Indicator Light (Enable/Disable), One Touch Locking, Privacy Setting Mode, Handing the Lock (automatic), Volume (High/Low/Silent), Language (English/Spanish/French), Lockout Mode
• Network Module Setting (only shown if a network module is installed): Join the Network / Exit the Network

Menu Mode — Feature Programming (YRC620)

Same basic flow as YRC226, with these additions: Automatic Re-lock time is settable from 1–180 seconds; adds an Escape Return Mode option (note: if enabled, Automatic Re-lock cannot also be enabled); adds Set Up SEOS Card for credential-based access.

Key Definitions

• All Code Lockout Mode: Enabled via the Master code — restricts all user (non-Master) PIN access. A red locked padlock icon appears on screen when active.
• Automatic Re-lock Time: After a successful unlock, the door re-locks automatically after the selected duration (Advanced Lock Settings, menu #3).
• Handing the Lock: Refers to which direction the bolt extends (right/left) — the lock can auto-detect this or be manually re-handed via Hardware Troubleshooting steps.
• Low Battery: Low Battery Warning indicator flashes RED. If power is fully lost, use the cylinder key override.
• Master PIN Code: Used for programming and settings; also operates lock/unlock. Must be registered before any other programming.
• One Touch Locking: When latch is retracted, any keypad activation extends the latch (respecting Auto Re-lock timing).
• Privacy Mode: Press and hold the privacy button 4 seconds to enter do-not-disturb mode — disables all PIN codes. Disabled by default.
• Shutdown Time: After 5 failed PIN attempts, the unit shuts down (flashing RED) and won't respond for 60 seconds.
• Tamper Alert: Audible alarm if the outside lock is forcibly removed from the door.

Resetting to Factory Default

Warning: This deletes ALL user codes, including the Master PIN code, and resets all programming to defaults.

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
2. Remove the interior lock to access the reset button hole.
3. Re-insert 3 batteries; insert a small screwdriver into the reset hole and hold the button for 3 seconds.
4. While still holding the button, insert the 4th battery and continue holding for 3 more seconds.
5. Release the reset button, then re-install the interior lock onto the door.

After a reset, creating a new Master PIN Code is the only available option and must be done before any other programming. For best results, perform the reset with the lock installed on the door.

Hardware Troubleshooting

Replacing the Cylinder

1. Remove the touchscreen from the door.
2. Remove the pan head screw.
3. Let the cylinder drop out of the assembly.
