Installation and setup instructions for the X10 PRO XPDF Incandescent Dimmer Fixture Module — a hard-wired, in-fixture dimmer module for controlling incandescent lighting loads up to 300W via X10 signals.

Overview

The XPDF Incandescent Dimmer Fixture module controls incandescent loads of up to 300W. It's small enough to fit inside recessed lighting cans and single-gang boxes of new or existing fixtures, allowing hard-wired control from inside the fixture itself. The module responds to ON/OFF, ALL LIGHTS ON/ALL UNITS OFF, and BRIGHTEN/DIM commands from an X10 controller or compatible security console.

Ratings & Restrictions

• Rated 120VAC, 300 Watts, incandescent loads only
• Do not use to control receptacles, fluorescent lighting, motors, or transformers
• For use only in fixtures where 60°C (140°F) wiring is permitted
• Maximum ambient operating temperature: 140°F (60°C)

Installation

1. Shut off power at the circuit breaker.
2. Identify the leads from the fixture (line and neutral).
3. Interrupt the 120VAC line that supplied power to the fixture, then connect the Blue (Switch Leg) lead from the XPDF to the fixture as Line.
4. Connect the Black (120VAC, Line) lead from the XPDF to 120VAC.
5. Connect the White (Neutral) lead to Neutral.
6. Clean the mounting surface, remove the protective covering from the adhesive tape on the back, and press the module firmly in place.
7. Check that all connections are tight and no bare conductors are exposed.

Setup

• Set the House Code dial (RED) to the same letter set on the controller or security console. For monitored security consoles, the house code is downloaded by the security installation firm. The default house code is 'A' when using the PRO2000.
• For normal lighting control, set the Unit Code dial (BLACK) to an unused code controllable from the controller or an RF remote such as the Security Remote (PSR01, switches 1-4 control Unit Codes 1-4).
• To use the fixture as the security light, set the Unit Code to match the security console's unit code. For monitored security consoles, the unit code is downloaded by the security installation firm. The default unit code is '13' when using the PRO2000.

Note: The security light is the light that flashes on/off during an alarm and is controlled by the security LIGHT ON and LIGHT OFF buttons on the PRO2000 console, keychain, and security remotes.
