X10 PRO XPCR — 120/208V Smart Coupler/Repeater Installation Guide

Installation instructions for the X10 PRO 120/208V Smart Coupler/Repeater (XPCR) — couples X-10 power line carrier signals between phases in split-phase or three-phase installations while boosting and repeating the signal onto all phases.

Overview

The XPCR is designed to couple X-10 power line carrier signals between phases in single (split-phase) or three-phase installations, while at the same time boosting the original signal and "repeating" it onto all phases.

Warning: Installation must be carried out by qualified installers only. The main breaker must be turned off during installation, and the coupler must be installed in a suitable workbox or equivalent enclosure. Installation must comply with all applicable codes and requirements, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Installing the Coupler/Repeater

1. Turn off the power at the main breaker panel.
2. Install the Coupler/Repeater into a suitable workbox or equivalent enclosure.
3. Connect the red lead first, then at least one black wire as required (depending on number of phases), using wire nuts. Check for no bare wires protruding, and cover wire nuts with insulating tape if necessary.
4. Connect the white wire to the Neutral strap in the breaker panel.
5. Check all wiring and connections, then turn on the main breaker.
6. Test signal strength on all phases using an X10 PRO Test Transmitter (XPTT) and Signal Strength Indicator (XPTR).

LED Indication

When a valid X-10 command is received on either phase of the electrical system, the LED on the Coupler/Repeater flashes rapidly three times, verifying correct operation.
