X10 PRO PHR03 RF Handheld Remote — Manual

The X10 PRO PHR03 RF Handheld Remote pairs with the PAT01 RF Base Transceiver to extend X10 remote control throughout a home using radio frequency (RF) signals instead of infrared, so no direct line-of-sight is required.

What It Does

Plug the PAT01 RF Base Transceiver into any nearby outlet, and the PHR03 remote gives wireless control over any device connected to an X10 receiver module — up to 100 feet from the transceiver under ideal conditions. The remote operates up to 16 devices (or groups of devices) and includes Dimming/Brightening buttons for use with X10 dimmable receiver modules. The PAT01 receives the RF commands and instantly relays them over the home's power lines.

• PHR03 requires 4 AAA batteries (sold separately).

X10 Protocol

• House Code Dial: Letters A–P (default "A")
• Unit Number Dial: Numbers 1–16 (default "1")
• Each X10 receiver module is set to a unique unit number (or an identical one, as desired). Every X10 controller must be set to the same house code as the receivers it's controlling.

Electrical Protocol Note

Most residential homes are wired split-phase — each 120V phase is not directly connected to the other. If a receiver doesn't respond to a remote controller after installation, verify the breaker serving the receiver is on the same phase as the controller (or swap it to the opposite phase). Installation

1. Install 4 AAA batteries into the remote, observing correct polarity.
2. Rotate the remote's House Code Dial to match the letter used by the installed modules.
3. Set the RF Handheld Remote's slide switch to 1–8 (control Units 1–8) or 9–16 (control Units 9–16).
4. Plug in the PAT01 RF Base Transceiver and set its House Code Dial to match the remote's house code.
5. Set the UNIT slide switch to "1" to control the built-in outlet with an X10 "A1" command, or "9" for an "A9" command. (The UNIT slide switch has no effect on the remote's control of all 16 unit numbers.)

Once configured, pressing ON/OFF on the remote operates the corresponding installed X10 receiver module anywhere in the home. For dimming modules, press Bright or Dim after the initial ON command to adjust intensity.

Notes

• To print a new label for the PHR03 channels, run ActiveHome software: File > Print > Type of Report > Controller Labels. ActiveHome is downloadable from x10pro.com Tech Support.
• As with all RF devices, electrical fields, metal doors/frames, and appliances can cause interference that weakens the transmitted signal. Relocating the PAT01 may improve reception.
