Instruction manual for the X10 PRO PAT01 RF Base Transceiver — a wireless-to-powerline signal converter that lets X10 RF Remote Controls and PIR wireless motion sensors control devices over the standard X10 powerline protocol, with a built-in controllable AC outlet.

Description

The PAT01 RF Base Transceiver works with X10's line of RF Remote Controls and PIR Wireless Motion Sensors. It acts as an X10 Signal Converter, receiving all 16 Unit Code Addresses (1–16) on a single House Code (A–P) via wireless RF remotes, and converting them into standard X10 signals on the electrical power lines. If the Transceiver detects existing X10 activity on the line, it holds off transmitting until the line is clear.

You can add as many handheld remotes and X10 wireless modules as desired within one House Code to a single Base Transceiver. However, only one RF Base Transceiver Module (or X10 Security Console, which performs the same RF-to-X10 conversion) should be used per House Code — using more than one on the same House Code can cause X10 signal collisions.

X10 Protocol Reference

• House Code Dial: Letters A–P (default "A")
• Unit Number Dial: Numbers 1–16 (default "1")
• Each X10 receiver module is set to a unique Unit Number, or to an identical Unit Number if you want multiple receivers to respond together.
• Each X10 controller operating a set of receiver modules must be set to the same House Code as those receivers.

Electrical Protocol Notes

Nearly all residential homes are wired SPLIT-PHASE — each 120V phase is not directly connected to the other. If an X10 receiver does not respond to a remote controller after installation, check that the breaker serving the receiver is on the same phase as the controller's breaker. If not, either move the breaker to the opposite phase, or install a Phase Coupler to improve remote communication throughout the home (see www.x10pro.com > Technical Support > PLC Troubleshooting).

Installation Steps

1. Set the Transceiver's House Code Dial to match the House Code used by the remote controller.
2. Set the UNIT Slide Switch to "1" to control the built-in outlet from a wireless transmitter/controller sending an X10 "A1" command, or to "9" for an "A9" command. (This switch has no effect on control of all 16 Unit Numbers from the X10 PRO Handheld Remote PHR03.)
3. Plug a lamp or appliance (switched ON) into the Transceiver Module's outlet, then plug the Transceiver into a convenient AC wall outlet.
4. Local control: the ON/OFF button on the unit toggles the built-in outlet directly.
5. Remember: the built-in outlet does not perform dimming.
6. Raise the antenna, and try several locations around the installation area to find the optimum reception spot for the Transceiver.
