Instruction sheet for the X10 PRO PAM04 Heavy Duty Appliance Module — a 240V/20A non-dimming receiver module for automating fans, dust collectors, small air conditioners, pumps, and motors via X10 remote control.

Description

The PAM04 Heavy Duty Appliance Module (Non-Dimming) is the easiest way to automate fans, dust-collectors, small air-conditioners, pumps/motors, and other 240V household devices up to 20A. Just plug the 240V device into the module, plug the module into a 240V outlet, and the device can be turned on or off from any X10 Controller in the house.

Local Control: The Heavy Duty Appliance Module can "sense" if any load is plugged into it. When the load on/off switch is toggled to the On position, the module responds by turning ON the load connected to it.

• Up to 2 HP motors, pumps, air conditioners, etc.

Note: This module is designed for 240V split-phase systems — it will not work on 3-phase (120/208V) wiring, unless an XPCR Phase Coupler/Repeater is installed on the 3-phase system.

X10 Protocol

• House Code Dial: Letters A–P, default "A"
• Unit Number Dial: Numbers 1–16, default "1"

Each X10 receiver module is set to a unique unit number, or to an identical unit number as desired. Each X10 controller operating a specific set of receiver modules must be set to the same house code as the receivers it controls.

Electrical Protocol

Nearly all residential homes are wired split-phase; each 120V phase is not directly connected to the other 120V phase. If an X10 receiver does not respond to a remote controller after installation, check that the breaker serving the receiver is on the same phase as the controller. If not, the breaker can be changed to the opposite phase, or a Phase Coupler can be installed to improve remote communications throughout the home. Setting the PAM04 Address Code

Using a small screwdriver, set the House Code Wheel (RED) to the setting that matches an X10 PRO Controller (A–P). Then set the Unit Code Wheel (BLACK) to the desired number address (1–16).

Installation

1. Plug the 240V Heavy Duty Appliance Module into any 240V AC wall outlet.
2. Plug the 240V device to operate into the module outlet. Be sure the device is turned on, if it has a switch.
3. The device may turn on immediately if the factory left the internal relay in the ON condition.
4. Send an X10 OFF command to turn it OFF. Installation complete.
