X10 PRO HR12A — RF Handheld Remote Control Manual

Overview

The X10 PRO HR12A RF Handheld Remote works with the TM751 RF Base Transceiver to extend X10 remote control capability around the home. Plug the TM751 Base Transceiver into any outlet, and the HR12A gives wireless control of any electrical device connected to an X10 Receiver Module — no line-of-sight required, since it uses RF instead of infrared.

X10 Protocol Basics

• House Code Dial: Letters A–P (default "A")
• Unit Number Dial: Numbers 1–16 (default "1")
• Each X10 Receiver Module is set to a unique Unit Number (or an identical Unit Number, if desired)
• Each X10 Controller must be set to the same House Code as the Receivers it controls

Electrical Protocol Note

Nearly all residential homes are wired split-phase — each 120V phase is not directly connected to the other. If an X10 Receiver doesn't respond to a remote Controller after installation, check that the breaker serving the Receiver is on the same phase as the Controller. If not, either change the breaker to the opposite phase, or install a Phase Coupler to improve remote communication throughout the home (see x10pro.com > Technical Support > PLC Troubleshooting).

Installation

1. Install 4 AAA batteries into the Remote Controller, oriented correctly.
2. Rotate the House Code Dial on the face of the Remote to the desired letter, matching all installed modules.
3. Set the RF Handheld Remote slide switch to (1–8) to operate Units 1–8, or (9–16) to operate Units 9–16.
4. Plug in the TM751 RF Base Transceiver and set its House Code Dial to match the House Code on the HR12A.
5. Set the UNIT slide switch to "1" to control the built-in outlet via an X10 "A1" command, or "9" for the built-in outlet via an X10 "A9" command. (This switch has no effect on control of the 16 Unit Numbers from the HR12A itself.)

Once installed, press the ON/OFF button corresponding to a specific module to operate it. For dimming modules, press Bright or DIM after the initial ON command to adjust intensity.

Relabeling Channels

To print a new label for the HR12A channels, run ActiveHome Pro software: File > Print > Type of Report > Controller Labels. ActiveHome Pro is available for download at x10pro.com under Tech Support.

Interference Note

As with all RF transmitter devices, electrical fields, metal doors/door frames, and appliances can reduce transmitted signal strength. Relocating the TM751 RF Base Transceiver may improve reception of signals from the HR12A.

Warranty

120-Day Limited Warranty. X10PRO-USA (a division of Authinx Inc.) warrants this product to be free from defective material and workmanship for 120 days from the original date of retail purchase, and will repair or replace, at its sole discretion, a defective product returned within the warranty period with proof of purchase.
