    September 08, 2026 2 min read

Instruction manual for the X-10 PRO PHR04 Wireless RF Keychain Remote — programming housecodes, unit codes, and using the brighten/dim functions with X-10 PRO Lamp and Wall Switch Modules.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Instruction manual for the X-10 PRO PHR04 Wireless RF Keychain Remote — a compact keychain transmitter that works with an X-10 PRO Base Transceiver (PAT01) or any X-10 PRO Security Base (PRO2000) to turn on/off two sequentially coded X-10 PRO modules and brighten/dim connected lights.

    How It Works

The PHR04 controls two Unit Codes: the top two ON-OFF buttons control the first module (Unit Code 1), and the middle two buttons control the second module (Unit Code 2, one number higher). After pressing a number button, press and hold to brighten (top) or dim (bottom) lights connected to Lamp Modules or Wall Switch Modules.

    Setup

    1. In the default state (after first fitting the battery), the PHR04 is set to Housecode A, with the first two ON-OFF buttons controlling Unit Code 1 and the second pair controlling Unit Code 2.
    2. Plug in an X-10 PRO Transceiver (PAT01) or Security Console (PRO2000) — sold separately.
    3. To turn X-10 PRO Modules on/off at Unit Code 1 (Housecode A), press the first (top) ON or OFF button. For Unit Code 2, press the second (bottom) ON or OFF button. To brighten/dim Lamp or Wall Switch Modules, press the number button first, then press Bright or Dim.

    Changing the Housecode

    1. Press and hold the first (top) ON button. The red LED blinks once; 3 seconds later, it blinks the current setting (1 blink = Housecode A, 2 = B, ... 16 = P).
    2. Release the button.
    3. Press and release the top ON button the number of times matching your desired Housecode (once for A, twice for B, etc.). Hold the button on your last press — 3 seconds later, the red LED blinks back the new setting.

Note: If you don't follow this exact sequence, the LED stays on for 1 second and your existing setting will not change.

    Changing the Unit Code

The second pair of buttons is always one Unit Code number higher than the first pair (e.g., if the first button controls code 6, the second controls code 7).

    1. Press and hold the top OFF button. The red LED blinks once; 3 seconds later it blinks the current Unit Code setting (1 blink = Unit Code 1, up to 16 blinks for code 16).
    2. Release the button.
    3. Press and release the top OFF button the number of times matching your desired Unit Code. Hold the button on your last press — 3 seconds later the new code blinks back.

Note: If you don't follow this exact sequence, the LED stays on for 1 second and your existing setting will not change.

    Battery Replacement

Pry the unit apart and fit a CR2025 Lithium 3V battery. Observe correct polarity.

    Troubleshooting

As with all RF transmitter devices, electrical fields, metal doors/window frames, and appliances can cause interference that decreases the strength of the transmitted signal. Try re-orienting the transmitter or receiver console to improve your ability to send and receive signals.
