    Quick Start Guide for the Winland Electronics EA800 Environmental Monitoring System — a base unit supporting up to 4 wired and 4 wireless sensors for temperature, humidity, water/leak, and contact-closure monitoring. Refer to the full Installation Manual for complete instructions and specifications.

    Important Safety Notes

    • All power terminals must be connected to a Class 2 power-limited circuit complying with National Electrical Code NFPA 70, Article 725.
    • Where required, this equipment must be isolated from mains supply by a limited power source as specified in EN60950.
    • Batteries must not cause explosion or fire hazard from excessive charge/discharge or incorrect polarity installation.
    • Complete all wiring for wired sensor connections before powering on or programming the base unit.
    • If used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the equipment's protection may be impaired.

    Installation Overview

    1. Installing the Base Unit

    • CAUTION: Do not connect or disconnect power, sensor, or alarm wiring while power is applied — this may damage the base unit or cause unreliable operation.
    • CAUTION: Connecting unsuitable loads may damage the power supply and base unit.
    • Using a terminal block adapter, connect the power supply + and – leads to POWER IN (+) and (–) on connector J5. Observe proper polarity. If using a transformer, it must be an isolated power supply.
    • If Aux Power Out is needed, connect + and – leads to AUX POWER OUT (+) and (–) on J5.
    • When the base unit powers up, a 30-minute timer starts — it will alarm after this timer expires unless one or more sensors are installed.

    2. Unlocking/Locking the Base Unit

    • Press F1 to unlock the base unit. Default password: 0800.
    • Press F3 (Next) to move the cursor one digit right, use arrow keys to change values, then press Enter.
    • After completing setup, press F1 to lock the unit again. It also auto-locks after 30 minutes of inactivity.

    3. Setting Time and Date

    Defaults are 24-hour clock (military time) and mm/dd/yyyy format. To change: go to MAIN MENU → System → Configuration → Date Format or Time Format, select preference, press F3 (OK). To set the actual time/date: MAIN MENU → System → Set Date or Set Time, follow prompts using PREV/NEXT, press F3 (OK).

    4. Adding Sensors

    Press MENU, select Sensors, then Add New Sensor.

    • Wired sensors: Select Wired, choose the sensor type, assign a Common or Custom name (16 characters max), follow on-screen prompts. Repeat for each additional wired sensor.
    • Wireless sensors: Remove the cover, power the sensor (remote supply or 2 AA batteries) before starting setup — set up one sensor at a time. Select Wireless; the base unit searches for the sensor (1-2 minutes). Press the sensor's Reset Button to restart search if needed. Verify the number on-screen matches the number on the sensor's PC board, then select the output relay to connect it to.

    Wireless Sensor Types

    • Wireless Multi-Function Sensor (EA-WMFS): Wireless transmitter for connection to a wired sensor. Supports Blue/Red/White Temperature Probes, Supervised Waterbug Sensor, and Contact Closure Sensors (N.O./N.C.). Not for use with HA-III+ or 4-20mA sensors.
    • Wireless Temperature Sensor (EA-WTS) and Wireless Humidity Sensor (EA-WHS): Assign a name and follow on-screen prompts.

    Verifying Signal Strength

    After temporarily mounting a wireless sensor, press MENU → Sensors → Performance → select sensor to check signal strength (may take up to 30 seconds). "No Data" for 1-2 minutes indicates the sensor is likely out of range. Fewer than two bars means the sensor should be relocated for better signal.

    Refer to the full Installation/Owner's Manual for: configuring relays, pausing/canceling monitoring, replacing a sensor, editing sensor parameters, changing data collection frequency, changing the buzzer setting, clearing alarm/sensor logs, saving/loading configuration, and exporting stored logs.
