    Theory of Operation

The HA-4 senses ambient room humidity electronically using a capacitive sensing element. Humidity varies room to room and even area to area within a room; ventilation and airflow greatly affect relative humidity. When first programming the HA-4 on the monitoring device, treat the initial reading as a baseline — allow at least 30 minutes of operation for the sensor to stabilize before setting high/low limits. A time delay is strongly recommended when programming the EA200-12/24, EA400-12/24, EA800-IP, or EAPro-GTWY to avoid false alarms from brief humidity spikes (e.g. a door opening or ventilation system starting).

    Installation

    • Flush-mount the sensor directly to a flat surface such as a wall
    • Locate away from drafts, heat sources, and direct sunlight
    • Recommended mounting height: 4 to 5 ft. (1.2 to 1.5 m) from the floor

    Wiring

    Wire the HA-4 to the EA200-12/24, EA400-12/24, EA800-IP, or EAPro-GTWY using 18-22 AWG twisted pair, extendable up to 1,000 ft. (304.8 m):

    • Red wire = Positive
    • Black wire = Negative
    • Blue wire = connects to the NEGATIVE (–) terminal on the sensor input of the desired monitoring device
    • The sensor input POSITIVE (+) terminal is not used

    Maintenance

    • Clean the outside of the HA-4 with a soft, dry cloth only — do NOT use liquid cleaners, solvents, abrasive cleaners, or compressed air
    • Do NOT open the product enclosure — doing so voids the warranty
    • Test the device weekly to ensure proper operation

    Warranty

One (1) year limited warranty against defects in material and factory workmanship from date of purchase, when properly installed and operated per instructions. Requires a Return Material Authorization (RMA) from Winland for any returns. Does not cover misuse, negligence, accident, or unauthorized repair/alteration.
