    Overview

    The ST-BT01Q is a compact field tester with 4 LEDs that quickly and easily show the strength of voltage present in most 12VDC applications, plus an illuminated power connector for polarity checks. It performs 5 essential field tests without needing a multimeter.

    Features

    • Voltage Testing: Check the voltage of power sources easily in the field.
    • Load Testing: Apply a simulated 1A or 500mA load to power sources to check voltage under load.
    • Polarity Testing: Check wire polarity using the illuminated power connector.
    • Voltage Drop Testing: Check the amount of voltage drop over long cable runs.
    • PTC Fuse Testing: Check the integrity of PTC fuses (which can test good for continuity but fail under load).

    How It Connects

    • DC plug: Plugs directly into a power source's 2.1mm DC jack for testing.
    • DC jack input: Accepts 2.1mm power jacks plugged directly into the unit.
    • 12" alligator leads: For testing terminals directly (e.g., battery load testing).
    • Test button: Press and hold 2–3 seconds to apply the selected load.

    Sample Applications

    • PTC Fuse Testing: Select the 1A load to test whether a PTC fuse holds up under load, not just continuity.
    • Load Testing: Connect alligator leads directly to battery terminals; apply 1A or 500mA load to check the battery's load capacity, or simulate current draw to confirm a device (e.g., a camera or lock) has enough supply current before installation.
    • Voltage Testing: Plug a DC power jack directly into the tester to check a 12VDC power supply's output.
    • Voltage Drop Testing: Measure voltage near the power supply, then again at the end of a long cable run, to determine voltage drop.
    • Polarity Testing: Use the illuminated power connector alone — blue indicates correct polarity, red indicates incorrect polarity, purple indicates AC voltage present.

    Example system: a 12VDC CCTV power supply (e.g., EVP-1SD6P16UL) feeding a 12VDC bullet camera (e.g., EV-133C-DWBWQ) and a 1200-lb electromagnetic lock (e.g., E-941SA-1200) at the end of a cable run — the ST-BT01Q can verify voltage, load, polarity, and voltage drop at any point in that circuit.
