Product specifications for the WaterCop WCDFST Wireless Low Temperature Sensor, which triggers a WaterCop Classic shut-off valve when pipe temperature drops below 34°F.
Product sheet for the WaterCop® WCDFST Wireless Low Temperature Sensor — a freeze-detection sensor that works with the WaterCop® Classic system to reduce water damage from frozen, burst pipes.
As water pipes freeze, ice inside the lines can cause them to expand and burst or pull away from fixtures. When temperatures warm enough to thaw the ice, water flow is restored — often in the form of hundreds of gallons rushing out of the failure point directly into the property. The WCDFST Low Temperature Sensor clips directly onto a pipe (up to ¾" diameter) and constantly monitors pipe temperature; left unattached, it still monitors ambient temperature. If pipe temperature falls below 34°F, the sensor sends a wireless alert to the WaterCop® Classic control valve, which immediately shuts off the main water service to minimize damage from potentially freezing and bursting pipes (or excessive temperatures).
Low Temperature sensors can't prevent pipes from eventually freezing and bursting, but they can help mitigate catastrophic loss and damage when the pipes eventually thaw and water flow is restored. WCDFST sensors can be added to any existing WaterCop® Classic system, or purchased as part of a new system installation.
While perfect for northern-tier states, Low Temperature sensors also provide proven protection for "milder-climate" homes that lack sufficient insulation to withstand unseasonably cold weather.
