Overview

STAND DOWN SD-4 (18" x 24") and SD-5 (24" x 30") are completely self-contained floor monitoring systems with no tangled wires, no control units, no hardware, and no batteries. The sensor pad is placed on the floor at the patient's bedside, at the position where the patient's feet would land when exiting the bed, with the extension control unit routed as shown in the manual. It detects patient weight on the pad and sounds an alarm — useful for bed-exit monitoring as well as monitoring toilet visits, room/door areas, or patients with dementia, medication effects, or Alzheimer's.

Setup & Operation

1. System Placement: Locate the sensor pad alongside the bed exit area. Place the extension control unit toward the lower/foot end of the bed, slightly under the edge of the bed. The pad detects patient weight and sounds an alarm.
2. Monitoring: With the patient positioned in bed, hold the extension control unit and move the slide selector from OFF (down position) to ON (center position). The system will not alarm while the patient remains in bed; if the patient attempts to exit the bed and steps on the pad, the alarm will sound. When the patient returns to bed or removes weight from the pad, the system automatically resets with no alarm. Alarm volume is adjustable via the Alarm Volume Control.
3. Pause Feature: If the patient is being escorted from the bed for temporary non-bed activity, move the slide selector to PAUSE. In this position the unit emits low-volume beeps as a reminder that the system is standing by (neither monitoring nor fully off). Move the selector back to ON once the patient has returned to bed to resume monitoring.
4. Nurse Call Integration: If Nurse Call Station monitoring is desired, connect the accessory cable to the Nurse Call Output jack on the pad, with the other end going to the Nurse Call Station via a "Y" plug adapter accessory.
5. End Monitoring Session: Move the slide selector to OFF (down position).
6. Storage After Use: The system may be loosely rolled or folded through its length for storage. Follow the instructions on the bottom of the pad to avoid damage and voiding the warranty.

Cleaning

STANDDOWN is moisture proof and may be cleaned with standard healthcare disinfectants. Do not immerse in water.

Testing & End of Life

Caregivers should test the disposable STANDDOWN system before each use by applying pressure to the pad by hand, moving the slide switch to ON, and removing hand pressure. If STANDDOWN fails to alarm, immediate replacement is required.
