Ultraloq UL3 Series Fingerprint & Touchscreen Smart Lock — Installation Instructions

Overview

The Ultraloq UL3 Series is a fingerprint and touchscreen smart deadbolt lock from U-tec. This guide summarizes the installation process, box contents, door requirements, and important safety notes.

Important Notes Before You Start

• Watch the installation video at www.u-tec.com/support before attempting to install the lock.
• Do not use a power drill for installation.
• Install and test the lock with the door open to avoid being locked out.
• Read all instructions before contacting customer support.
• Contact customer support before returning the product to the store.
• Do NOT install the batteries before installing the lock — follow the steps in sequential order.
• If this lock was previously installed on another door, perform a Factory Default Reset FIRST (see the User Guide).
• Operating temperature range: exterior-mounted lock body -31°F to 158°F (-35°C to 70°C); interior-mounted lock body 14°F to 131°F (-10°C to 55°C).

Door Preparation Requirements

• Door thickness: 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" (35mm–44mm)
• Door bore hole diameter: 2-1/8" (53mm)
• Backset: 2-3/8" to 2-3/4" (60mm–70mm)
• Door edge hole diameter: 1" (25mm)

If installing on a door with an existing lock, remove the current lock and latch first.

Installation Steps (Summary)

1. Prepare the door — confirm all door dimensions match the requirements above.
2. Prepare the lock — if door thickness exceeds 1-5/8" (42mm), install the included spring. Before mounting, slide the battery cover off and remove the inside mounting plate (with gasket) from the back of the interior assembly.
3. Install the latch and strike — install the latch on the door with its angled face toward the door jamb; install the strike on the door frame so the bolt centers in it. Adjust the latch basket length as needed with Screw A.
4. Install the exterior assembly — mount it on the door and route the connector cable under the bolt through the specified hole.
5. Install the interior mounting plate — attach it and secure to the exterior assembly using Screw B, routing the wire over the hole.
6. Plug in the spindle.
7. Install the interior assembly — connect the cable to the interior assembly connector by aligning the notches and pressing firmly with your thumbs until fully seated, then secure with Screws C and D.
8. Install batteries — insert 3 AA alkaline batteries, replace the battery cover, and tighten with Screw E.
9. Install the handles — press the lever handles onto the handle posts. Test mechanical operation by rotating the handle from inside; bolt movement should be smooth. If handles are installed backward, insert the screwdriver into the hole in the handle, push and hold, then pull the lever handle out to reposition it.

Keep Your Records

It's recommended to register several Admin fingerprints and PIN codes, and to keep a written record (date, admin code, user name, user ID, and user code) for reference — the printed manual includes a table template for this purpose.
