    Installation instructions for the STI NT-SS1 (single gang) and NT-SS2 (double gang) IR Switch series — decorative, near-field infrared touchless activation switches designed to fit standard US single or double gang wall boxes.

    Overview

    The NT-SS1/NT-SS2 series is a knockout-style, no-touch infrared sensor switch used to trigger a relay (door release, lighting, or other 24V-controlled equipment) with a hand wave rather than a physical button press — useful for hygienic, ADA-friendly, or heavy-traffic entry points. The switch mounts in a standard US single-gang (NT-SS1) or double-gang (NT-SS2) electrical box and includes a 5-pin wire harness for wiring the relay output and power.

    Wiring

    • Purple wire: N.O. (normally open) relay contact
    • Blue wire: COM (relay common)
    • Green wire: N.C. (normally closed) relay contact
    • Black wire: COM (power)
    • Brown wire: Ground
    • Red wire: DC+ 12–24VDC

    Warning: Do not connect any device that will exceed 1.0A @ 24VDC.

    Adjustments

    • Active Time Delay: Adjustable 0.5–20 seconds (short/long trigger timing dial)
    • IR Detection Range: Adjustable 4–15cm (1.5–6 in), factory tolerance ±25%
    • LED Control Jumper: Sets Standby/Trigger LED color scheme — default is Standby: Red, Trigger: Green (selectable to Standby: Green, Trigger: Red)

    Installation Steps

    1. Run power and device wires into the electrical box.
    2. Use the wiring diagram to complete the device application connections.
    3. Screw the plate to the back box, being careful not to pinch wires.
    4. Remove the clear protective film from the sensor before use.

    Cleaning

    To ensure reliability and long sensor life:

    1. Never spray the sensor directly — use the mildest cleaner available.
    2. Spray cleaner on a very soft, clean cloth and gently clean the sensor.
    3. Wipe off excess liquid and make sure wet spots are removed (spots may affect sensor performance).
