Product brochure for Somfy TaHomA® — a Total Home Automation solution that puts whole-home control of motorized shades, rolling shutters, awnings, projection screens, lights, and thermostats at your fingertips, independently or in sync, from inside your home or remotely.

    Overview

TaHomA manages your home's "Energy Triangle" — motorized window coverings, lights, and thermostats — to help your home run as efficiently as possible. It's controllable from any internet-connected computer, smartphone, iPad®, or tablet, as well as a range of physical wall and table-top controls.

Living With TaHomA — Example Scenes

    • Morning (6:30 AM): Bedroom shades open for sunshine, lights off; bathroom blinds closed for privacy, lights on; thermostat to "At Home" summer setting; kitchen blinds open, lights off. Scenes can also trigger automatically based on sunrise/sunset.
    • Daytime-Away (9:30 AM): First/second floor blinds and shades closed for energy savings, lights off, thermostat set to an energy-efficient "Away" setting.
    • Evening (5:30 PM): Outdoor pathway/porch lights on, first-floor shades closed for privacy with lights on, garage lights on for security, thermostat to "At Home" setting.
    • Relax (8:00 PM): Shades closed for privacy, lights dimmed for ambiance, thermostat to "Night" winter setting.
    • Goodnight (11:00 PM): Outdoor lights on for security, first-floor blinds closed with lights off, second-floor bathroom blinds closed with hallway light on for safety, thermostat to "Night" winter setting.
    • Vacation: Customized "Away" Scene — blinds/lights coordinated for security and energy savings; Schedules can randomize activation times to create a "lived-in" look while away.

    Core Concepts

    • My Rooms — each room with TaHomA-controlled devices gets its own icon in the dashboard (e.g. Master Bedroom, Living Room, Kitchen, Kids' Bedroom, Patio, Driveway).
    • My Scenes — a collection of settings for a room or the whole house, activated with a single command (e.g. "Good Morning," "Movie," "Reading," "Nap," "Vacation," "Welcome," "Whole House").
    • My Schedules — automate Scenes by time of day, or by sunrise/sunset. The Schedule Configurator's "Randomize" feature varies activation times for a lived-in look while away.
    • Motion Sensors — can trigger Scenes (e.g. lighting a path from a guest bedroom to a bathroom) or enable the "Home Occupancy" feature, which synchronizes multiple motion sensors for whole-home energy management.

    System Architecture

    • TaHomA Controller — the brains of the system. Uses Z-Wave®, a 2-way RF mesh networking technology, as the nerve center connecting to your home network. Programmed by an authorized TaHomA dealer. Downloads software/firmware updates automatically.
    • Radio Technology Somfy® (RTS) Compatibility — TaHomA uses Z-Wave but communicates with RTS products via the Z-Wave to RTS Interface (ZRTSI), which receives Z-Wave commands and translates them into RTS. Supports up to 16 individual products or 16 groups; plugs into any standard outlet. Existing RTS handheld/in-wall controls continue to work alongside TaHomA.
    • Z-Wave to Digital Motor Interface (ZDMI) — receives Z-Wave commands from TaHomA and translates them for Somfy's digital motors, with 2-way communication for real-time motor position status. One ZDMI per motor.
    • Z-Wave Mesh Network — devices from Cooper, Evolve™, and Leviton® (switches, dimmers, receptacles, modules, thermostats, scene controllers) form a mesh where each device acts as a signal repeater, ensuring commands reach their target regardless of distance/obstructions.

    Physical Control Options

    • 4-button and 5-button Scene Controllers (wall-mount, table-top, and LCD variants)
    • LCD table-top controls for nightstands
    • Apps for iPhone®, iPad®, and iPod Touch®
    • Secure web dashboard accessible from any internet-connected computer
