Installer manual for the Somfy SUNIS RTS Sun Sensor (9020412) — automatic sun-level control for RTS motorized awnings and screens.
Installer manual for the Somfy SUNIS RTS Sun Sensor (9020412) — a wire-free, battery-powered light sensor that automatically controls RTS motorized awnings and screens based on sunlight intensity.
Important: A Somfy Soliris RTS transmitter must be provided with each installation to enable/disable the sun function.
Rotate the top of the sensor clockwise to align the arrows on the base and sensor top, then lift the top off the mounting base. Install the 2 AA batteries, observing polarity as shown on the base. When batteries are installed correctly, the red battery LED blinks right after installation. You can re-check battery health any time by removing and reinstalling the batteries and confirming the LED blinks.
Deleting the sensor: repeat the same two steps above.
Clearing all sensors before adding a new one: repeat steps 1 and 2, but on step 2 hold the Prog button until the motor jogs twice (approximately 7 seconds) — this clears all previously programmed sensors. Then repeat steps 1 and 2 normally to add the new sensor.
Hint: a Soliris transmitter must be programmed to the motor(s) to let the user enable/disable the sun function. If a sensor is removed or damaged, it must be cleared from the motor's memory.
Adjust the threshold up or down with a short press of the + or − button.
| Threshold Level | Sunlight Intensity (kLux) | LED Color |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | Red (1 blink) |
| 2 | 5 | Red (2 blinks) |
| 3 | 10 | Red (3 blinks) |
| 4 | 20 | Red (4 blinks) |
| 5 | 40 | Green (1 blink) |
| 6 | 55 | Green (2 blinks) |
| 7 | 75 | Green (3 blinks) |
| 8 | 100 | Green (4 blinks) |
Levels 1–4 use the red LED (blinking 1–4 times to confirm level); levels 5–8 use the green LED.
DEMO mode reduces delay times so the sensor can be tested quickly. Press the + and − buttons together to cycle in or out of Demo mode — the red and green LEDs alternate when entering Demo mode and blink together when exiting. The Sunis automatically times out of Demo mode after 3 minutes.
| Mode | No Sun Delay | Sun Delay |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Mode | 15–30 min | 2 min |
| Demo Mode | 15 sec | 10 sec |
| Spec | Value |

| Maximum range | 65 ft. under optimal conditions |
| Operating temperature | -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to +40°C) |
