    Troubleshooting and helpful tips for the Somfy Maestria™ RTS motorized shade/screen system — covering setup-mode obstacle detection issues, resetting to factory mode, and adjusting obstacle detection sensitivity in user mode.

    Setting Mode: Screen Won't Lower (Motor Stops)

    Problem: After initiating programming, the down command doesn't work — the motor stops because obstacle detection is (incorrectly) detecting an obstacle and preventing the motor from going down.

    Solution 1 — Use a Higher-Torque Motor

    If the installed motor's torque is undersized for the product's lifting requirements, upgrading to a higher-torque motor may resolve the issue.

    Solution 2 — Help the Load Bar Reach the Down End Limit

    1. Press MY/STOP + DOWN while helping the load bar move down by hand — this absorbs bounces that trigger false obstacle detection.
    2. Once the down end limit is reached, follow the manual limit-setting process (short jog confirmations at each step). Note: the motor must run at least 6 seconds between the up and down end limits for the limits to register.
    3. Once limits are set, deactivate obstacle detection (press & hold for a long jog, then a short jog to confirm).

    Solution 3 — Set a Temporary Down End Limit

    If the load bar cannot reach the true down end limit, press MY/STOP + DOWN while helping it move down, and set a temporary limit at least 6 seconds' travel time from the up end limit. Deactivate obstacle detection, then re-set the true end limits once the load bar can travel fully.

    Setting Mode: Cannot Register End Limits in Manual Mode

    Deactivate obstacle detection first, then re-set the end limits following the standard limit-setting process. The motor must run a minimum of 6 seconds between the up and down end limits to record them successfully.

    Switching Setting Modes (Manual ↔ Auto ↔ Semi-Auto)

    If the Remote Is Not Yet Paired (Setting Mode)

    Perform a Single Power Cut: turn power ON, then cut power for 2 seconds. This deletes previous settings and returns the motor to Factory Mode, ready to start setup in the desired mode.

    If the Remote Is Already Paired (User Mode)

    Perform a Dual Power Cut: power ON → cut for 2 sec → power back ON for 8 seconds → cut for 2 sec → power ON, then press and hold for about 7 seconds until the motor jogs (after ~2 sec) and jogs again to validate the reset.

    Motor Jogs When Plugged In

    This means the motor's travel limits are set, but it isn't yet paired with a transmitter (the programming button on the remote was never pressed). You cannot reset the motor mid-process — finish the initial setting first:

    1. Power on and complete the short-jog confirmation sequence to finish initial setup.
    2. Perform a Dual Power Cut (as described above) to return the motor to Factory Mode.
    3. Re-set the motor, choosing the desired Setting Mode: Manual, Full Automatic, or Semi-Automatic (automatic up limit, manual down limit).

    User Mode: Obstacle Not Detected

    You can deactivate obstacle detection or increase its sensitivity from the default level during downward movement only (upward obstacle detection cannot be deactivated). This is useful for narrow products with a lighter load bar, or motors with excess torque relative to the product size. All button presses must be completed within 2 seconds of the previous press.

    1. Enter obstacle setting mode: with the screen at the halfway position, briefly press MY and UP, then press and hold MY and UP again until the screen jogs.
    2. Adjust the level:
      • To deactivate: press UP briefly, then UP briefly again — the screen jogs slowly, now deactivated.
      • To increase sensitivity: press DOWN briefly, then DOWN briefly again — the screen jogs slowly, now more sensitive.
      • If the jog is short, you've reached the setting limit (repeat press to continue in that direction). A long jog confirms the change took effect.
    3. Confirm and exit: press and hold MY/STOP for about 2 seconds until the screen jogs to confirm the new setting.

    User Mode: Load Bar Goes Down Near the Upper End Limit

    1. Perform a Dual Power Cut on the affected motor only to return it to Factory Mode.
    2. Re-set the motor in manual mode, positioning the up end limit about ¼" lower than the previous limit (at least ¼" below the cassette) so the load bar doesn't touch the cassette:
      1. Initiate programming — briefly press UP and DOWN simultaneously on the transmitter; the screen jogs.
      2. Check direction of operation — press UP or DOWN to verify rotation direction; if wrong, press and hold MY until the screen jogs to reverse it. (Incorrect direction can prevent Eolis/Soliris RTS sensors from functioning properly and risks screen damage or injury.)
      3. Manual adjustment:
        1. Position the screen at the desired upper limit.
        2. Press MY/STOP and DOWN simultaneously — the screen lowers.
        3. Position the screen at the desired lower limit.
        4. Press MY/STOP and UP simultaneously — the screen raises.
        5. Press and hold MY/STOP until the screen jogs to validate the end-limit setting.
        6. Briefly press the programming button on the back of the transmitter with a paper clip — the screen jogs, confirming the motor is set up and in User Mode.
