    Full text manual (for reference)

User instructions for the Skylink SA-001S Wireless External Alarm — a solar-powered outdoor siren that pairs with Skylink remotes, sensors, and security control panels (SC-001, AM-001, ML-001).

    What's Included

    • One Wireless External Alarm
    • AC adapter (optional, model-dependent)
    • Rechargeable battery pack
    • User's instructions

    Installation

    1. Remove the cover of the Wireless External Alarm by undoing the 2 screws on both sides.
    2. Set the Compatibility Jumper (J2): Use a paper clip to move the jumper connector to the correct posts for your Skylink devices — see table below.
    3. Insert 3 AA batteries or the included rechargeable battery pack into the black "NiMH" connector. The Learn/Set LED lights for 1 second then turns off; the PWR LED will flash.
    4. Plug the AC adapter into an outlet and into the DC jack on the unit. The PWR LED will stay on steadily.

    Compatibility Jumper (J2) Settings

    Compatible Models Jumper Setting
    SC-001, AM-001, ML-001, 4B-101, GS-101, KP-434, PS-101, VS-101, WA-101, WD-101, 4B-434 Top 2 posts (1-2)
    MA-103, 4B-103, GS-103, KP-103, PS-103, VS-103, WA-103, WD-103 Bottom 2 posts (2-3)

Caution: The AC adapter is the disconnect device — the socket-outlet must be installed near the equipment and easily accessible.

Programming — Learn Remote, Sensor, or Control Panel

Before use, remotes, sensors, and control panels must be "learned" (programmed) into the Wireless External Alarm.

    Learn a Remote

    1. Press and hold the Learn button for 2 seconds, then release — the Learn/Set LED flashes.
    2. Activate the remote by pressing any button.
    3. 2 beeps and the LEDs flashing twice confirm the remote is programmed.

    Learn a Motion Sensor

    1. Press and hold the Learn button for 2 seconds, then release.
    2. Press the "Test/Set" button inside the motion sensor's battery compartment.
    3. 2 beeps and double LED flash confirm programming.

    Learn a Door/Window Sensor

    1. Press and hold Learn for 2 seconds, release.
    2. Separate the sensor's magnets to send the signal.
    3. 2 beeps and double LED flash confirm programming.

    Learn Control Panel MA-103

    1. Press and hold Learn for 2 seconds, release.
    2. Press and hold the Mute button on the MA-103 for 3 seconds.
    3. 2 beeps and double LED flash confirm programming.

Learn Control Panel AM-001 or ML-001

    1. Press and hold Learn for 2 seconds, release.
    2. On the panel, press [ARM], then enter the current Master PIN (factory default 1234).
    3. 2 beeps and double LED flash confirm programming.

    Learn Control Panel SC-001

    1. Press and hold Learn for 2 seconds, release.
    2. On the panel, enter the current Master PIN (factory default 000), then press [B][B].
    3. 2 beeps and double LED flash confirm programming.

    Erase All Learned Devices

    1. Press and hold Learn/Set for 8 seconds until the LED turns on solid (you may release once it's solid).
    2. Press and hold Learn/Set again for 2 seconds until it beeps twice and all LEDs flash twice.
    3. All learned devices are now erased. (Note: you cannot erase a single device — erasing clears everything, then you re-add what you want to keep.)

    Alarm Sound Duration

Adjustable from 30 seconds to 10 minutes (factory default: 3 minutes).

    1. Press and hold Learn/Set for 5 seconds — release once all LEDs turn on.
    2. While the PWR and Learn/Set LEDs stay on, press Learn/Set the number of times corresponding to your desired duration (see table).
    3. Press and hold Learn/Set to confirm — 2 beeps and double flash confirm the new setting.
    Presses Duration
    1 30 seconds
    2 60 seconds
    3 3 minutes
    4 5 minutes
    5 10 minutes

    Arming Sequences

Requires a programmed remote. Two arming modes:

    • Arm Home: For when you'll be at home moving within the armed area. Motion sensors are ignored; other sensors (e.g. door/window) trigger the alarm instantly. Press ARM HOME on the remote — 2 beeps/double flash confirm.
    • Arm Away: For leaving the premises. 30-second exit delay before all sensors arm (1 beep/single flash during countdown, then 2 beeps/double flash once fully armed). If a sensor is triggered while armed, a 30-second entry delay applies (beeping every 5 seconds) — disarm during this window or the alarm sounds.
    • Disarm: Press DISARM on the remote — instant, 2 beeps/double flash.
    • Panic: Press PANIC on the remote — siren sounds instantly.

Connecting to an Existing Alarm System

Two input terminals accept a Normally Open (NO) momentary dry contact or 12V DC:

    • INPUT1: Delay trigger — alarm waits until armed.
    • INPUT2: Instant alarm trigger.

    Alert Notification Jumper (J1)

Controls whether the unit beeps during arm/disarm/entry-exit countdown. Factory default: Enable. Unplug all power before changing this jumper.

    Mode Jumper Setting
    Enable Top 2 posts (1-2)
    Disable Bottom 2 posts (2-3)

Disabling still leaves the siren active when triggered — only the confirmation beeping is silenced.

    Battery & Solar Power

Powered by 3 AA alkaline batteries as backup. A low battery triggers 3 beeps when arming/disarming via remote. Replace all batteries together and watch polarity. The SA-001S includes a solar panel on top of the cover that charges the rechargeable battery pack during the day; a small amount of stored energy runs the unit overnight. For best results, mount facing due south (or at minimum, east/west) and avoid shadows from walls, trees, or roof overhangs.

    Tamper Protection

Built-in tamper protection triggers the siren if the cover is removed or the unit is moved after wall mounting. Disarm the unit before replacing batteries or performing any maintenance.

    Maintenance

    • Clean the solar panel periodically with a soft, damp cloth to ensure maximum light absorption.
    • Test the unit periodically to confirm it's working.

    Troubleshooting

    Issue Solution
Alarm doesn't respond to sensors/remote You must program (learn) the sensors/remote to the alarm before they'll work together.
Can't arm the system Make sure no sensors are triggered — e.g. all doors/windows should be closed.
Not beeping, but LEDs flashing Alert Notification Jumper is set to Disable — reset to Enable to restore beeping.
Erasing just one sensor/remote Not possible — erasing removes ALL learned devices; re-program the ones you want to keep.
Works without backup batteries? The SA-001A model works fine on AC power alone. Backup batteries take over during power outages.

    Warranty
