Installation instructions for the Skylink MK-MT Security Keychain Remote — a wireless keychain remote that arms or disarms your SkylinkNet or M-Series Alarm system with a press of a button.

    What's Included

    • 1x Keychain Remote

Programming with the M-Series Main Console

You can program up to 4 security keychain remotes or keypads total. The remote must be programmed in Zone 1.

    1. Press the learn button on the back of the M-Series Main Console for 3 seconds until the Zone 1 light flashes.
    2. Press any button on the keychain remote.
    3. Once programmed, the Zone 1 LED light will turn off.

Programming with the SkylinkNet Internet Hub

Must be done from the SkylinkNet App.

    1. Go to "More" and tap "System Settings."
    2. Tap "Setup Wizard."
    3. Tap "Add Device."
    4. Tap "Security Remote/Keypad."
    5. Name your Security Keychain Remote and tap "Continue."
    6. Tap "Learn Now" and press any button on the keychain remote.

    Using the Remote

A red LED flashes when any button is pressed.

    • Arm Away: Protects your home when you're away — activates the alarm after a default delay, giving you time to get in/out to arm/disarm.
    • Arm Home: Protects while you're at home — deactivates motion sensors but leaves other sensors active.
    • Disarm: Deactivates the alarm system.
    • Panic Button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate the alarm.

    Password Protection (Optional)

Allows requiring a passcode before pressing a button to arm, disarm, or activate the panic feature. Password can be 2-8 digits using buttons 1, 2, 3, and 4. Leave a 1-second pause between entering the password and operating. Factory default password is 2,2,2, and password protection ships disabled.

    Enabling/Disabling the Password

    1. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously and hold for at least 2 seconds until the LED flashes quickly (not the slow flash).
    2. Input the old password (factory default 2,2,2).
    3. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously to confirm. If correct, password protection toggles on/off.

Once enabled, enter your passcode, then press the button to control your alarm system — you can only operate the remote after entering the correct password.

    Changing the Password

    1. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously and hold for at least 6 seconds — the LED changes from fast flashing to slow flashing.
    2. Input the old password (factory default 2,2,2).
    3. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously to confirm. If wrong, the LED flashes 3 times — restart.
    4. Input the new password.
    5. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously to re-confirm. If incorrect, LED flashes 3 times — restart.

    Resetting the Password

After resetting, the password feature is disabled and reverts to factory default 2,2,2. You'll need to re-program the remote to your M-Series Main Unit or SkylinkNet Internet Hub.

    1. Press buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously and hold for more than 15 seconds until the LED flashes.
    2. Release the buttons — the LED turns off and the remote resets to factory default.

    Replacing the Battery

Powered by a CR2032 battery. Replace when operation range is reduced or the LED doesn't flash during operation.

    1. Undo the screws on the back of the keychain remote.
    2. Pry out the back cover.
    3. Remove the old battery.
    4. Insert the new battery, observing polarity.
    5. Close the back cover with the two screws.

Dispose of the old battery promptly and properly.

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Solution
M-Series Main Console does not respond to the remote You must program the remote to the M-Series Main Console or SkylinkNet Internet Hub first. Ensure you're entering the correct password if enabled.
Can I erase just one remote from a zone? No — you must erase all remotes/sensors in the zone, then re-program the ones you want to keep.
Multiple remotes in one zone and the Main Console LED keeps flashing, indicating a remote failure — how do I know which remote? You need to test each remote individually.
