Complete user guide for the Skylink Dial-Alert™ Emergency Dialer (Model ED-100 / AD-433), including a Panic Transmitter (PT-434) — dials up to 9 pre-programmed phone numbers and plays a personalized emergency voice message when activated.

Overview

The AD-433 Dial-Alert dials as many as 9 pre-programmed telephone numbers and sends a personalized pre-recorded message. Each telephone number can be dialed up to 9 times, and the person receiving the call can confirm receipt by pressing "#" on their telephone. The pre-recorded message (maximum 40 seconds) plays automatically. The Dial-Alert is activated when:

• The red panic button on the Dial-Alert's keypad is pressed, or
• The button on the included Panic Transmitter is pressed.

Installation

1. Position the dialer beside a telephone or near a phone line and within reach of an electrical outlet (hidden is recommended for security). It runs on regular electrical current and includes a 9V backup battery for power interruptions.
2. Thread the telephone line through the top hole in the back of the unit and plug it into the "LINE" jack; plug the other end into a telephone jack. If adding an answering machine on the same line, thread that line through the bottom hole into the "PHONE" jack.
3. Thread the AC adapter cord through the top hole in the back of the unit and plug it into the AC connector on the circuit board.
4. Insert the 9-volt alkaline battery and rotate the antenna from inside the dialer to the outside.
5. Attach the unit to the wall — use double-sided tape for temporary placement, hang from two keyhole slots on stationary screws, or screw the backplate directly to the wall using the included template, wall anchors, and 4 screws.
6. Mount the dialer on the backplate: insert one hinge into its hole, twist the other hinge into position, and plug the AC adapter back into the circuit board.
7. Firmly close the case.
8. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet — the red AC PWR light turns on and the keypad backlight flashes (indicating no message has been recorded yet).

Optional line input: intended for an answering machine or telephone; this device is disconnected automatically when the dialer is activated, so it won't affect the dialer's operation.

Switch Settings (inside the case)

• Tone/Pulse switch (upper left of circuit board): supports both Tone and Pulse dialing; factory set to Tone.
• Speaker On/Off switch (lower right of circuit board): speaker must be ON during programming/recording to use playback. Can be turned off afterward for silent dialing. Default: On.

Lights and Sounds

Standard Programming

Program the Time Clock

Press [L] → display shows "L". Press [4] → display shows "L4 12:00" with the first digit flashing. Enter the desired time using the keypad (24-hour format). Example: to set 8:15 PM, press [L][4][2][0][1][5].

Recording a Message

The keypad flashes until a message is recorded — the dialer cannot dial without one. Press and hold [R/P] for 2 seconds, then release; the display shows "rEcord" with a beep, then record your message near the microphone (max 40 seconds). Example message: "This is an emergency voice message, my name is [Name], please send help, I live at [address]. My phone number is [number]." A recommended closing: "...to acknowledge and discontinue further calls, press #." Press and release [R/P] to end recording; the display shows "PLAY" and plays it back automatically.

Sequence: Hold [R/P] 2 sec → record message → press [R/P].

Playback Pre-Recorded Message

Press and release [R/P] — display shows "PLAY," the dialer beeps, and the message plays back.

Storing Telephone Numbers

Program up to 9 phone numbers. There are three ways to send messages:

• A. Voice message only
• B. Voice message + numeric info (pager reception)
• C. Numeric info only (pager reception)

A. Voice Message Only

1. Press [MEM] — display shows "M" (returns to clock mode if nothing entered within 5 sec).
2. Select a memory location (1–9) within 5 seconds.
3. Enter the telephone number on the keypad.
4. Press [MEM] within 5 seconds after the last digit — number is stored.
5. Display shows "rEdIAL 3" (redial count, factory default 3, range 1–9). Press [MEM] to keep, or enter a new number.
6. Display shows "rEPEAt 3" (message repeat count per call, factory default 3, range 1–9). Press [MEM] to keep, or enter a new number.
7. Dialer returns to standby mode.

Sequence: [MEM] → location (1–9) → phone # → [MEM] → redial # (1–9) → repeat # (1–9).

B. Voice Message + Numeric Info (Pager)

Same as above, but after entering the phone number, press [R/P] to insert a pause (factory default 5 seconds, adjustable 1–9 sec) before the paging company connection completes. Multiple pauses can be inserted. Continue with [MEM], redial count, and repeat count as above.

C. Numeric Info Only (Pager)

1. Press [MEM], select memory location (1–9), enter the telephone number.
2. Press [R/P] to insert a pause (display shows "P").
3. Enter the numeric information to send (shown on the pager), then press [L] — this suspends the recorded voice message.
4. Press [MEM], then set redial count ("rEdIAL 3") and repeat count ("rEPEAt 3") as above.

Delete a Telephone Number from Memory

1. Press [MEM].
2. Select the memory location (1–9) of the number to delete.
3. With the number displayed, press [R/P] to delete it — display returns to clock mode.

Review or Modify Pre-Programmed Numbers

1. Press [MEM] — display shows "M."
2. Select the memory location (1–9).
3. The number displays; enter a new number to replace it, or press [MEM] to keep it.
4. Keep or change the redial count, then press [MEM].
5. Keep or change the repeat count, then press [MEM] — returns to clock mode.

Activate the Dial-Alert with the Keypad Panic Button

Once all numbers and the voice message are programmed, press the panic button on the keypad (or activate the Panic Transmitter) to start dialing the pre-programmed emergency numbers in sequence.

Panic Transmitter

The included transmitter fits on a keychain or necklace and activates the Dial-Alert from up to approximately 100 feet away (range varies with obstructions). It is water- and shock-resistant for everyday carry. Move the sliding cover and press the panic button for one full second to activate — pressing too briefly may not register.

Battery: three 3-volt lithium batteries (CR-1220), factory installed, ~5-year storage life. To replace: unscrew the two back screws, remove old batteries with a small screwdriver, insert new batteries positive-side up, close the cover and re-insert screws. To preserve battery life, activate the transmitter only in a real emergency.

Advanced Programming

Program the Calling Time

Press [L] then [1] — display shows the current calling-time setting. Options: 1 = 30 sec, 2 = 45 sec, 3 = 60 sec (factory default), 4 = 75 sec, 5 = 90 sec. Select 1–5 to change, or press [L] to keep the current setting.

Programming the Pager Pause Period

Press [L] then [2] — display shows "L2 5" (current pause, factory default 5 sec). Press a digit 1–9 to set the pause between 1 and 9 seconds, or [L] to keep the current setting.

Set the Type of Phone System

Press [L] then [3] — display shows "L3 1" for regular phone systems (factory default). Press [2] to switch to PABX systems ("L3 2").

Program the ID Code of a Transmitter

Press [L] then [5] — display shows "L5 Id codE." Activate the desired panic transmitter within 5 seconds to learn it. To verify, activate the learned transmitter while in clock mode — the dialer should begin dialing. Hold the keypad panic button for 2 seconds to abort a test call.

Delete Programmed Panic Transmitters

Individual transmitters cannot be deleted — the entire transmitter memory must be erased, then transmitters re-learned as needed. Press [L] then [6] — display shows "L6 ErASE." Press [#] — a double beep confirms all transmitters have been deleted.

Arm/Disarm the Dialer

Press [L] then [7] — display shows "L7 1" (armed, factory default). Press [2] within 5 seconds to disarm ("L7 2") — the DISARM light turns on and the dialer will not respond to activated transmitters. It's recommended to keep the dialer armed at all times.

Delay Dialing

Delays dialing after activation by 0–75 seconds, allowing time to cancel an accidental trigger. Press [L] then [8] — display shows "L8" with the current setting. Options: 1 = 0 sec (factory default), 2 = 30 sec, 3 = 45 sec, 4 = 60 sec, 5 = 75 sec. During the delay, hold the keypad panic button for 2 seconds to abort the call.

Universal Dial Tone

Allows compatibility with all phone systems worldwide, including those with voice-message or call-answer features that produce non-standard dial tones. Factory set to OFF (requires a standard dial tone before dialing). Press [L] then [9] — display shows "L91" (off). Press [2] within 5 seconds to turn it ON. When off and no dial tone is detected within 1 minute of activation, the display shows "no LInE" and the backlit keypad flashes; hold the panic button for 2 seconds to return to standby.

Battery Maintenance

The ED-100 uses two battery types:

• Dial-Alert: one 9-volt alkaline backup battery (~2 years if used only for backup). The LOBATT light comes on when it's low. To replace: press the two top tabs and pull the front open, disconnect the old battery, connect the new one, and close the case. Note: if the AC adapter is disconnected while replacing the battery, the recorded message will be erased and the clock will reset to 12:00 — re-record the message and reset the clock afterward.
• Panic Transmitter: three 3-volt lithium (CR-1220) batteries (~5-year life), replaced as described above.

Recommendation: Test the Dial-Alert periodically to confirm all batteries are working.
