Installation manual for the Simply Automated Universal Inverting Phase Coupler, model ZPCI — used to couple UPB (Universal Powerline Bus), X10, and broadband signals across the two 120VAC power circuits in a split-phase residential installation.
Typically one phase coupler is used per breaker panel in a home (for three-phase power applications like condominiums, see model UTR instead). Models ZPCI-W and ZPCI-B include built-in surge suppression.
This inverting phase coupler is unique in that it complements inverted UPB signals reflected back from street-side power transformers. Each additional inverting phase coupler used actually adds signal strength between phases — unlike conventional phase couplers, where adding more than one attenuates and weakens the signal.
