Specification sheet for the Simply Automated UPB 3-Speed Fan Controller (UCQF / UCQF-W) — a UPB transceiver/ceiling fan controller base providing three-speed fan output plus an on/off light circuit output, controllable over existing home power lines.

Overview

The UCQF is a UPB (Universal Powerline Bus) Transceiver / Ceiling Fan Controller Base with one three-speed fan control output (2.5A max) for high, medium, and low speed control, plus one on/off light circuit output (300W max). With a faceplate attached, the top button controls high speed, the second controls medium, the third controls low, and the bottom button controls the light circuit (or turns the fan off, depending on configuration). The UCQF base requires a separate 4-button faceplate (Oval or Thin-Bar style, sold separately in white, almond, light almond, ivory, black, or brown). The UCQF-W model ships with a white oval-button faceplate pre-attached.

The UCQF transmits and receives UPB lighting scene links, so it can be triggered by other UPB devices, or its own button presses can control other UPB dimmers and relay modules elsewhere in the home. A companion transmitter-only remote (UCQT, no output circuits) is available for virtual 3-way/4-way control from another location, and fits the optional Tabletop Pedestal accessory.

Applications & Configuration Notes

• Out of the box, the top-to-bottom buttons control high, medium, low, and off/light respectively.
• If the light output (button 4) will be used, the unit must be configured (via UPStart software, a PC, and a UMC computer interface module) so the bottom button doesn't also turn off the fan.
• Can transmit/receive UPB scene links to synchronize with other lights or fans in the same room.
• If multiple fan controllers are installed in a home, assign different scene links to each (default links #101–104) to avoid them all triggering together — unless simultaneous control is desired.
• Can be automated with the Scheduler-Timer (model UCS-01) for time-based on/off control, or integrated with a whole-home controller/thermostat for temperature-based fan triggering.
