Setup

AC Power Adapter

Use only a UL-listed Class 2 power adapter, 9VDC, 300mA. Plug it into the nearest AC outlet.

Optional Base Batteries

The base accepts four AA batteries (user-provided) as backup power during an outage — installation is optional. Without batteries, the phone reverts to a simple, non-amplified telephone during a power outage. Always disconnect the phone cord from the wall jack before changing batteries. Dispose of used batteries through your local recycle center; never in fire or regular trash.

Installation

1. Connect the AC adapter and phone cord to the base.
2. Install optional AA batteries in the base for full amplification/speakerphone function during a power outage.

Basic Operation

Answering / Making a Call

Lift the handset (or press the Speakerphone key) to answer or dial. Hang up (or press Speakerphone again) to end the call.

Answer a Call by Voice (Voice-Activated Answering)

When enabled, the "Amplify/Voice Answer" indicator flashes periodically. Stay within 5 feet of the phone when it rings and say "H-E-L-L-O" (or make any sound louder than 1 second) during the silent interval between rings to auto-answer via speakerphone. Wait 0.5 seconds into the silent interval before speaking.

Transferring Handset to Speakerphone

While on a handset call, press the Speakerphone key then hang up the handset — the call transfers to hands-free. Lifting the handset again turns the speakerphone off.

Volume & Amplify/Tone Control

Adjust the volume slide while on a call. Press the AMPLIFY key to add an extra 25 dB of receiver amplification (indicated by the Amplify light); while active, the tone control also activates — experiment with tone settings for the clearest voice, then reuse that setting on future calls. (Tone control does not function in speakerphone mode.)

Auto "Amplify" Switch

Located on the phone's underside. ON: the amplify function activates automatically every time you lift the handset — recommended for single users. OFF: you must manually press AMPLIFY each call — recommended when the phone is shared by multiple users.

Memory Dialing

• One-Touch Memory: While off-line, press PROG, enter the phone number, then press a one-touch memory key to save. To dial, lift the handset and press the memory key.
• Two-Touch Memory: While off-line, press PROG, enter the number, press PROG again, then press "1"–"0" to save into slot A-1 through A-0. To dial, lift the handset, press PROG, then the appropriate digit.
• Call Waiting: A soft beep during a call indicates another call waiting. Briefly press the hook switch to answer it (puts the original caller on hold); press again to return to the original caller.
• Redial: Lift the handset (or press Speakerphone) and press REDIAL.
• Pause: During memory programming, press the PAUSE key to insert a 3-second pause (e.g. dialing "9 P 7228850" to access an outside line on business phone systems).

Function Settings (Programming Mode)

For all settings below: while off-line, press and hold PROG for about 3 seconds to enter setting mode (voice confirms "Program, Program"), then press PROG again to save and exit.

• Set Talking Keypad (Voice Announce): Slide the "Voice Announce" switch on the bottom of the base to ON/OFF — when on, each keypress is announced by voice.
• Set Voice-Activated Answering: Press "##" to hear the current setting, then "#" to toggle ON/OFF.
• Set Language (English/Français/Español): Press "**" to hear the current language, then "#" repeatedly to cycle languages.
• Set Phone Number Announcing: Press "#3" to hear the current setting, then "#" to toggle whether the phone number (in addition to the memory name) is announced when dialing from memory.
• Tone or Pulse Dialing Mode: Press "#1" to hear the current mode (1=Tone, 2=Pulse), then "#" to toggle.

Ringer Volume

A three-position ringer loudness switch (Hi/Med/Lo) is located on the side of the phone.

Mixed Dialing (Pulse and Tone)

If your line is set to pulse dialing but an application (banking, voicemail) requires tones, press "*" after pulse dialing to temporarily switch the keypad to tone mode. It automatically reverts to pulse dialing on the next call.

Regulatory (FCC / Industry Canada)

Complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and ACTA requirements; a label on the unit lists the product identifier and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN). The sum of RENs on one line should not exceed 5.0 — contact your telephone company if unsure how many devices your line supports. This equipment also complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules (Class B digital device) and Industry Canada's ICES-003. Any modification not expressly approved by the manufacturer may void your authority to operate the device. Not for use on coin service lines; connection to party lines is subject to state tariffs.

Warranty Service Information

One-year limited warranty from date of purchase to the original consumer, covering defects in materials and workmanship under intended home use. Return the unit (freight prepaid) with proof of purchase to Serene Innovations for repair or replacement (refurbished or equivalent unit). Free return shipping within 30 days of purchase; a $9.95 handling charge applies for returns made after 30 days but within the warranty period. Does not cover accidental damage, misuse, incorrect voltage/frequency, or unauthorized repairs/alterations. Obtain a Return Authorization Number (RAN) before shipping — unauthorized returns will be refused.
