    Earth Ground should be connected via 18AWG wire (minimum 22AWG) to a grounded metal conduit, cold water pipe, or grounding rod to protect against static discharge damage. When wiring electric strikes, connect the included diode and metal oxide varistor (MOV) in parallel with the strike to absorb EMI — do not use with electromagnetic locks.

    Installation

    1. Find a suitable mounting location — not too high or low for typical users.
    2. Using the included Torx wrench, unscrew the security screw on the bottom of the mounting bracket.
    3. Carefully remove the keypad from the mounting bracket.
    4. Drill the 4 designated mounting holes (use the included mounting template if needed).
    5. Secure the mounting bracket with the 4 included mounting screws (use included screw anchors for brick/drywall).
    6. For surface wiring, mount to a single-gang box using the single-gang mounting points.
    7. Connect wiring per the wiring diagram.
    8. Reattach the keypad to the mounting base and tighten the security screw with the Torx wrench.

    Important: If used with a mechanically operated door or gate, mount the keypad at least 5' (1.5m) from the door/gate to prevent crushing/pinning injuries. Always disconnect power before servicing. The keypad must be grounded with a minimum 22AWG wire to the green Earth Ground wire. All wiring and programming should be done by a professional installer.

    First-Time Programming

    1. Enter Programming Mode by entering the Master Code twice (default: 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3-4-5).
    2. Set the Output #1 Access Mode (SPQ models only, required for user codes to work): Enter [0], then [0][0] for user cards only (default), [0][1] for either card or code, or [0][2] for card with code.
    3. Program a new Master Code: Enter [3], then enter the new 5-digit Master Code twice.
    4. Program an Output #1 User Code: Enter a 3-digit user ID (000-999), then a new 5-digit user code. Up to 1,000 Output #1 codes can be programmed; each code must be unique and different from the Master Code or any Output #2 code.

    Codes are 5 digits. To exit Programming Mode, press [#]. The keypad auto-exits after 30 seconds of inactivity.

    Using the Keypad

    Enter the user code directly (not the user ID number) to activate an output — e.g., if the Output #1 code is 54321, press 5-4-3-2-1. To use a user card, hold it in front of the keypad; the keypad beeps once read. If a wrong code is entered or wrong card swiped 5 consecutive times, the keypad locks out for 1 minute — further attempts during lockout extend the lockout time.

    Audible tones: 1 long tone = confirmation; short tone = key press; 2 short tones = invalid entry; 3 short tones = code/card denied; constant short tones = alarm triggered; 6 short + 1 long = all user codes deleted; no tone = wrong code lockout.

    Resetting

    Delete all users: Enter [8][8][8]. This deletes all codes/cards but keeps the Master Code and other settings.

    Restore factory settings: Enter [8][9][9]. This clears all users and resets the Master Code to 12345 (and Output #1 Access Mode to proximity cards only, on SPQ models).

    Manually reset a forgotten Master Code: Disconnect power, hold the # key, reconnect power while still holding #. After 3 seconds the keypad beeps to confirm — Master Code is now 12345 (Master Card and user data are unaffected).

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Solution
    Keypad won't accept codes/cards Verify Output #1 Access Mode is set to accept user codes. If a wrong entry was just made, the keypad may be in Wrong Code Lockout — wait 1 minute.
    Output #2 will not activate Verify Output #2 is programmed for the correct function.
    Egress input not working Check egress wiring against the wiring diagram.
    Relay output will not stop Make sure the output isn't set to toggle mode.
    User code will not program Delete the existing user before programming a new code for that ID.

    Warranty

    This SECO-LARM product is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of sale to the original consumer customer. SECO-LARM's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of defective parts, transportation prepaid to SECO-LARM. Void if damage results from acts of God, misuse/abuse, neglect, unauthorized repair/alteration, or improper installation.
