    Manual for the Seco-Larm SD-995C-D3Q No-Cut Door Strike — a low-profile, UL-listed electric door strike for aluminum and metal door frames, field-selectable for fail-safe or fail-secure operation.

    Features

    • Low profile: strike is only 11/16" deep, suited for aluminum frames.
    • Field-selectable for fail-safe or fail-secure operation.
    • Includes mounting tabs for hollow aluminum and metal doors.
    • Reversible, non-handed design — fits either right-hand or left-hand doors.
    • Indoor use only.
    • No horizontal or vertical adjustments.
    • Static strength: 1,500 lb (680 kg). Dynamic strength: 70 lb-ft (9.68 kg-m).
    • Operating voltage: 12/24 VDC. Low current draw: 300mA at 12VDC, 150mA at 24VDC.
    • Tested to 100,000 cycles (UL Tested), 1,000,000 cycles (Factory Tested).
    • Intended for use with UL Listed exit hardware; must not impair intended operation of emergency exits or panic hardware mounted on the door.

    Not all parts will be used in every installation.

    Selecting Fail-Safe or Fail-Secure

    1. Using a flathead screwdriver, unscrew and remove the screw cap to access the field-selectable plug.
    2. For fail-safe operation, rotate the plug so "1" faces up.
    3. For fail-secure operation (default), rotate the plug so "2" faces up.
    4. Replace the plug in the correct orientation and screw the screw cap back into place.

    Installation

    1. Measure the latch line: measure the distance between the face of the door jamb and the face of the door latch (vertical latch distance), then draw a vertical line on the jamb at that distance — this is the latch line.
    2. Measure the center line: measure from the floor to the center of the door latch (ignore the deadlatch pin location), then measure the same distance along the inside of the door jamb — this is the center line.
    3. Align the included mounting template to the latch and center lines.
    4. If the hollow door frame material is unsuitable for direct mounting, install the provided mounting tabs.
    5. Before installing the strike, program it for fail-safe or fail-secure operation (see above).
    6. Conceal all wires in the door frame. Use two of the included machine screws to mount the unit to the mounting tabs, adjusting as needed so the door closes smoothly.
    7. Connect to power (see Wiring Diagram below).

    Note: SD-995C-D3Q has no horizontal or vertical adjustments.

    Wiring

    Connect the wiring connector's Black wire (-), Red wire, and White wire to your 12VDC or 24VDC power source, matching the (-) and (+) terminals as appropriate for your operating voltage.

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Solution
    Electric strike does not activate Dismount the strike and check the wiring connector is properly connected; ensure it's connected to a 12 or 24VDC source; use a multimeter to verify proper voltage/amperage (may need heavier gauge wire or a higher-output power supply); confirm the activation device (keypad/push-button) is working.
    Door does not open when strike is activated Check that the door latch operates properly and replace if necessary; the strike position may need adjustment by moving it or adding washers/shims.
    Strike makes a buzzing sound Connect the strike to a DC power supply (buzzing typically indicates AC power is being used).

    Note: SD-995C-D3Q has no horizontal or vertical adjustments.

    This Seco-Larm product is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for three (3) years from the date of sale to the original customer, under normal service. Seco-Larm's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of any defective part if returned, transportation prepaid, to Seco-Larm. This warranty is void if damage results from acts of God, physical/electrical misuse or abuse, neglect, unauthorized repair/alteration, improper or abnormal usage, or faulty installation. Seco-Larm is not liable for special, collateral, incidental, or consequential damages.
