    Installation guide for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER SD-994C / SD-995C series electric door strikes — field-programmable fail-safe/fail-secure strikes for metal (SD-995C) and wood (SD-994C) doors, plus 24VDC versions (SD-995C24 / SD-994C24).

    Overview

    These ENFORCER electric door strikes convert virtually any cylindrical lock set into an electronic access-controlled locking system. They pair with a digital keypad (e.g. SECO-LARM SK-983A / SK-983A100) or other access control/egress device such as a push-button switch or push bar.

    Installation

    1. Measure

    • Latch line: Measure the distance between the face of the door jamb and the face of the door latch (ignore any deadlatch pin) to get the vertical latch distance. Draw a vertical line on the jamb at that distance — this is the latch line.
    • Center line: Measure from the floor to the center of the door latch (again ignoring the deadlatch pin), then transfer that same distance along the inside of the door jamb and draw a horizontal line — this is the center line.

    2. Mount the Template

    Align and tape the included template on the door jamb to the latch line and center line.

    3. Cut

    Cut into the door jamb as shown on the template, to a depth of 17mm. For wood doors, use a chisel to knock out a 3mm (1/8") deep space as shown on the template. Toss or recycle the cut-out metal.

    Double-check the cut: place the unit in the hole and confirm it fits properly before proceeding, making adjustments as needed.

    4. Fix the Mounting Tabs

    Metal doors: Use the two small (M4x12) screws and two of the included black clips to fix the mounting tabs to the inside of the jamb.

    5. Program Fail-Secure or Fail-Safe

    Default is fail-secure (door locks when power is lost/cut). To switch to fail-safe (door unlocks when power is lost/cut): remove the flat screw from the fail-secure hole, push the round screw right until a hole appears in the fail-safe hole, then screw the flat screw into the fail-safe hole.

    6. Connect Wires and Insulate

    Connect the two wires to the access control or egress device (digital keypad, push-button switch, push bar, etc.). Polarity is not important. Insulate the wire connections carefully.

    7. Mounting

    Push all wires into the door frame, cutting away the dust catcher or carefully chipping drywall as needed (avoid damaging the wall). Use the two large (M5x12) screws to mount the unit to the mounting tabs. Adjust as needed so the door closes smoothly every time.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Fix
    Door does not release when strike is activated Open the door and activate the strike to test. If it works with the door open, the problem is likely a poor door latch, or the strike's position needs adjustment (move it or add washers/shims). If it doesn't work even with the door open, dismount and check the two wire connections and confirm they're on the correct power supply (12VDC for SD-995C/SD-994C, 24VDC for the "24" versions). Use a multimeter to confirm proper voltage/amperage — heavier gauge wire or a higher-output power supply may be needed. Also confirm the activation device (keypad, push-button, etc.) is working.
    Door does not lock properly when closed Usually an installation issue or bad door latch — adjust the strike's position or replace the latch.
    Other problems Replace the unit and re-test. Try swapping the suspect unit into a working door frame to isolate the fault.

    Warranty

    ENFORCER Electric Door Strikes are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of sale to the original customer. SECO-LARM's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of any defective part, with the unit returned transportation pre-paid to SECO-LARM.
