    Installation and programming manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER SA-027WQ 7-Day Timer, a programmable relay timer for security, access control, lighting, and environmental control applications.

    Overview

    The SA-027WQ can be programmed to operate a Form C relay 24 hours a day on a weekly basis, with up to 60 events on a weekly or daily schedule. A programmable holiday disables the timer for a single day weekly.

    Installation

    1. Find a location where the LCD display is visible and buttons are accessible; mark it.
    2. Connect wires per the terminal layout chart and basic wiring diagram (see PDF).
    3. Connect a 12-24 VAC or 10-48 VDC power supply to power input terminals 1 and 2.
    4. Connect the devices to be controlled to the relay outputs and other terminals as needed.
    5. Close the case, program the timer, and mount the unit at the marked location.

    Diode/varistor requirement: to protect the relay, install a 1N4004 diode (cathode/striped end wired toward the positive side, not included) in parallel with the power supply, as close to the lock as possible, for DC-powered locks — unless the lock has a diode built in. AC-powered locks and electromagnetic locks require a varistor/MOV (05D390K or similar, not included) in the same location if not already built in (all SECO-LARM electromagnetic locks have built-in protection). Failure to use these as directed will void the warranty.

    First-person-in (FM) function: suspends timer operation when its optional N.O. switch is activated. If the corresponding relay is on before the FM switch is activated, the relay stays on until the FM switch deactivates — the timer then resumes the last programmed function.

    Program Introduction

    The timer can be programmed before installation. EEPROM memory protects programming through power failures; the super capacitor (after a full 24-hour charge) preserves date/time for 7-10 days after power loss.

    Programming Recommendations

    1. Program in a logical order — plan first, then execute.
    2. On paper, write down: all events and durations (up to 60), any events that can use block coding (recurring patterns), and any holiday overrides.
    3. Decide whether to use a PIN code before programming.

    LCD Display & Programming Buttons

    • Icons indicate: return to parent menu, device locked with PIN code, and Daylight Savings Time active.
    • OFF/ON in the top-right corner reflects relay status (OFF = not triggered, ON = triggered).
    • SEL — navigates the menu to select the function to program.
    • ENTER — changes/confirms a selection. Press once to advance to the next option; press and hold to cycle rapidly.

    Programming Menu

    Menu Description
    Set Events Set timed events (up to 60), including event number, relay operation, day and time. Supports block programming.
    Set Holiday Program a holiday event — a day when normal timer operation is suspended.
    Set PinCode Set a 4-digit PIN code to secure the timer (optional, factory default 0000).
    Set Time Set current day and time (24-hour/military format).
    Set DST Disable (standard time) or Enable (adds 1 hour).
    System Test Shows current relay status and allows toggling to test relay operation.
    Set Display Adjust display contrast (relative values 00-09).
    Clr Memory Clears all programmed items except the PIN code (requires yes/no confirmation).

    General flow: press SEL to cycle to the desired menu, ENTER to open it, ENTER to change the flashing option, SEL to accept and move to the next field, and ENTER on the Return icon to save and exit to the home screen.

    Setting Display Contrast

    Navigate to Set Display, press ENTER, then repeatedly press ENTER to cycle contrast from 00 (default) to 09 (cycles back to 00). Alternatively, press and hold SEL + ENTER together at any time to gradually adjust contrast; release when satisfied.

    Setting Day and Time

    Navigate to Set Time; the day flashes first — press ENTER to change, SEL to accept and move to the next field (time). Time is displayed in 24-hour/military format (1:00 PM = 13:00:00).

    Programming Events

    1. Navigate to Set Events; choose an event number (01-60) with ENTER, SEL to accept.
    2. Select the relay operation: Dis (shunt), ON, OFF, or t=xx (momentary, 01-99 seconds).
    3. If momentary, set the duration (01-99 seconds).
    4. Set the day(s) of the week for the event.
    5. Set the trigger time.
    6. Press ENTER at the Return icon to save and go back to the home screen.

    Programming a Holiday Event

    1. Navigate to Set Holiday, select the day, then set the number of days (00-31).
    2. 00 = disabled. Holiday events run for full 24-hour periods starting at midnight and cannot be limited to certain hours.
    3. On a holiday, the lower display alternates between the date and "HOLI."

    Programming Daylight Savings Time

    Navigate to Set DST; press ENTER to toggle Enable/Disable, SEL to accept. Disable = standard time; Enable = adds one hour.

    Programming a PIN Code

    1. Navigate to Set PinCode; press ENTER to change each digit (0-9), SEL to move to the next digit.
    2. After the last digit, press ENTER to toggle Enable/Disable, SEL to accept.

    Forgot your PIN? Turn off power and disconnect the backup battery. Power the timer back on and immediately press and hold ENTER for at least 3 seconds until the lock icon disappears — this resets the PIN to 0000.

    Performing a System Test

    Navigate to System Test, press ENTER to see the current relay state (e.g. R1=OFF), then press ENTER again to toggle the relay — pressing again toggles it back.

    Clearing the Memory

    Navigate to Clr Memory, press ENTER, then toggle between NO and YES with SEL. Selecting YES and pressing ENTER clears all programmed items (except PIN code) after 3-5 seconds.

    Troubleshooting

    Issue Solution
    How can I test that a relay is working? Use System Test to toggle the relay on and off.
