Note: For DC-powered electric strikes, connect the included diode as close as possible and in parallel with the strike, to absorb electromagnetic interference. Do not connect a diode when using electromagnetic locks or AC-powered strikes.

    Important Safety Notes

    • WARNING: If using with a mechanically operated door or gate, mount the unit at least 15' (5m) from the door/gate to prevent users from being crushed or pinned.
    • Always disconnect power before servicing; do not apply power until all wiring is complete.
    • The reader must be properly grounded with a minimum 22 AWG wire to the common ground.
    • All wiring and programming should be done by a professional installer.
    • For weatherproof installation, seal the base-to-wall junction with a bead of silicone sealant.

Deactivate the built-in alarm by presenting a valid card.

    Installation

    1. Choose a location at a convenient height for users.
    2. Pry the reader from its base using a small screwdriver in the slot at the top rear.
    3. Use the base as a template to mark and drill mounting holes and a wiring hole (minimum ø3/8"/9mm).
    4. Run wiring through the wall to the wiring hole, thread it through the base, and connect per the Wiring Chart above.
    5. Push wires through the wall hole and install the base with the included screws/anchors, in correct orientation.
    6. Reattach the reader to the base until it clicks into place.

    Programming Overview

Programming is done via the included infrared programmer's keypad, or via Master Add/Delete Cards for quick card enrollment. Default master programming code is 123456 (should be changed on first use). Enter base programming mode with the master code, then a function code enters that function's programming mode (LED turns steady orange).

    Programming Function Codes

    Code Function Default
    0 Master programming code 123456 (6 digits)
1 Add user/duress cards None — must be programmed
    2 Delete user/duress cards None
    3 Output mode/time Momentary, 5 sec
4 Access mode / security level Single card
    5 External alarm/time 1 minute
    6 Wrong-card lockout/alarm Lockout disabled
7 Notification sounds/LED; operation mode Both ON; stand-alone/controller mode
    8 Wiegand output/input format 26 bits, 4-bit PIN
9 Two-door interlock mode; duplicate users to another reader Interlock OFF

    Card Types

    • Master Add Card: quickly adds user cards without entering programming mode; auto-assigns to the first available User ID.
    • Master Delete Card: quickly deletes user cards without entering programming mode.
    • User cards: up to 998 (User IDs 0–997).
    • Duress cards: up to 2 (User IDs 998–999) — unlock the door while silently triggering an alarm.

    Adding User Cards

Cards can be added individually by reading them, individually by typing printed card numbers, or in a large batch (up to 998 cards in consecutive order, taking up to 2 minutes) — useful for initial setup. The Master Add Card provides a shortcut into add-card mode without needing the master code.

Duress cards are added the same way as regular users but must be explicitly assigned to User ID 998 or 999. When triggered, the duress alarm sounds for the programmed alarm duration and cannot be silenced early; if a regular user card is used while the duress alarm sounds, the alarm continues and the timer restarts.

    Deleting Users

Delete individually by User ID or by reading/entering the card number, or use the Master Delete Card for quick deletion outside programming mode. To wipe all users while keeping the reader's configuration, use function code 2 followed by the master programming code. Duress IDs cannot be deleted with a delete card — only by their specific ID.

    Access Mode / Security Level

    • Single user card (default): one card grants access.
    • Multiple user cards (2–9): requires that many distinct cards presented within 5 seconds of each other, useful for high-security areas requiring multi-person authentication.

    Output Mode and Time

The relay can be set to toggle mode (starts on card presentation, stops on next presentation) or timed mode (triggers for 0.5–99 seconds, default 5 seconds, then auto-turns off).

    External Alarm and Wrong-Card Lockout

    • External alarm: sounds on tamper, duress, or wrong-card alarm trigger (if enabled); duration configurable 1–3 minutes (default disabled). Has no effect in Wiegand reader mode.
    • Wrong-card lockout/alarm: after 10 consecutive wrong-card attempts, the device can lock out access for 10 minutes (LED flashes red) and/or sound an alarm until cleared with a valid card or the master code. Default: disabled.

    User Operation

Present the proximity card to activate the relay. One beep sounds (if enabled) and the LED turns green when accepted. Presenting a card also silences most alarms (except duress alarms).

    Two-Door Interlock System

Two readers, each on separate doors with their own locks and egress buttons, can be wired so that while one door is open, the other cannot be unlocked. Enable via function code 9 on each unit (disabled by default). See the downloadable PDF for the full interlock wiring diagram.

    Wiegand Controller / Reader Modes

    • Wiegand Controller Mode: the reader connects to an external Wiegand reader and manages the relay/alarm outputs itself. Set the Wiegand input bit count (26–37, default 26) and PIN format (4/8/10 bits, default 4) to match the external reader.
    • Wiegand Reader Mode: the reader acts as a simple Wiegand output device for an external access controller, which then overrides most reader settings. Data0/Data1 carry Wiegand data; the LED and buzzer can be driven externally via dedicated wires.

    Duplicating Users to Other Readers

Up to 10 additional readers can be daisy-chained (matching wire colors) to receive a full copy of user data from a source reader (~3 minutes for 1,000 users, overwriting existing data on the destination units). All readers must share the same master programming code.

    Factory Reset

Requires an egress button connection. Power off, hold the egress button while powering on, and continue holding ~10 seconds until 2 beeps sound and the LED turns orange. Release the button; the LED turns red after ~30 seconds when the reset completes. To also assign new Master Add/Delete cards, read two cards within 30 seconds of release (first becomes Master Add, second becomes Master Delete).

    Troubleshooting

    • Unit fails to accept a new user/duress card: verify the User ID is 0–997 (users) or 998/999 (duress), and that the card isn't already assigned elsewhere.
    • Unit fails to respond to a programmed card: ensure the unit is in standby mode (press the # key until the LED is steady red).
