    Full text manual (for reference)

User manual for the HomeSeer HS-FC200+ Z-Wave Plus Fan Controller — a wired, in-wall fan speed controller for 3-speed or 4-speed ceiling fans, with multi-tap triggers and RGB LED status indication.

⚠ WARNING — RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK, AND BURNS. Do not use this switch to control anything that may present a hazard when controlled remotely or used unattended. Do not use with medical or life-support instruments.

    Overview

The HS-FC200+ is a Z-Wave controllable wired fan controller for 3-speed or 4-speed ceiling fans. It's designed for fans that don't share a circuit with a light, or installations with separate switches for fan and light. If the fan and light share a circuit/switch, the light will dim or turn off whenever the fan is set below its highest speed.

    Installation

Tools required: medium standard and Phillips head screwdrivers, wire strippers/cutters.

    1. Shut off power to the circuit at the breaker or fuse box. Verify power is OFF before continuing.
    2. Remove the existing fan controller's wall plate and mounting screws. Carefully remove the existing controller from the electrical box, but leave the wires connected.
    3. This switch connects only to three wires:
      • Neutral — White (often tied to other neutral wires; may need a jumper)
      • Ground — Green or Bare
      • Traveler — Red/Other (3-way circuits only)
    4. Disconnect wires from the existing switch and attach them to the HS-FC200+'s screw terminals:
      1. Strip 16mm (5/8") of insulation from each wire (14 AWG or larger, rated 80°C or higher).
      2. Loosen each screw terminal counter-clockwise a few turns until resistance is felt.
      3. Insert the stripped wire into one of the two holes near each screw terminal and tighten (tightening torque: 12 lbf-in / 14 kgf-cm). Connections should be snug.
    5. Carefully reinstall the wired switch into the electrical box and reattach the trim plate.

Supports both single-pole and 3-way circuit wiring configurations.

    Z-Wave Inclusion

Add or remove the device using a Z-Wave certified controller. The HS-FC200+ supports S2 security and SmartStart — use the unique QR code or 5-digit DSK pin on the product/packaging if your controller supports SmartStart. Otherwise, use this 2-step process:

    1. Put your Z-Wave controller into inclusion mode (HomeSeer users: press "Add Device" in the Z-Tool+ app).
    2. Tap the paddle of the new switch to begin inclusion — this takes a few moments. HomeSeer users should name the switch and assign it to a location in Z-Tool+ once complete.

    Manual Reset

Use only if the network's primary controller is lost or inoperable:

    1. Turn the switch on by tapping the top of the paddle once.
    2. Quickly tap the top of the paddle 3 times.
    3. Quickly tap the bottom of the paddle 3 times.
    4. If the light turns off then on again, the switch is reset. If not, repeat the process.

Association: supports association group #1 for lifeline communication — see your controller manual for setup.

    Operation

    Local Control

    • Tap the top of the paddle to power the load; tap the bottom to cut power.
    • Press & hold, or single-tap, the top/bottom paddle to increase/decrease fan speed. LED indicators light to show fan speed level.

    Remote Control

On/off control is available remotely via a Z-Wave controller. HomeSeer users: this switch creates three devices — a root device (manages Z-Wave settings), a central scene device (event trigger), and a control device (sends on/off commands).

    Advanced Features

    • Multi-tap triggering: tapping the top or bottom of the paddle 1–5 times in rapid succession can trigger HomeSeer events, using the Central Scene device and "device had its value set to" trigger (Scene 001 = top paddle, Scene 002 = bottom paddle).
    • RGB LED indicator: operates in two modes.
      • Normal mode (default): the LED reflects on/off status using one of 7 colors (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow, white).
      • Status mode: the LED can be set to reflect the status of virtually anything in the home via Z-Wave parameter/event actions. Sending a color status command automatically enables status mode; the switch stays in status mode until its LED status is set to "Off."

    Compatibility with Non-HomeSeer Systems

    • Multi-tap triggers: use the Z-Wave CENTRAL SCENE command class — works if the system supports it and uses general interrogation on inclusion; otherwise specific product support is needed.
    • Instant status: uses Z-Wave MULTILEVEL REPORT and CENTRAL SCENE — supported by all Z-Wave certified systems.
    • RGB LED control: uses Z-Wave parameter commands, supported by most certified systems.
