    Range by Format & Resolution

    Resolution TVI CVI AHD
    720p 623ft (190m) 1,443ft (440m) 984ft (300m)
    1080p 623ft (190m) 720ft (220m) 720ft (220m)

Actual range depends on format, resolution, and cable quality. Note: shorter range may result when used with a DVR.

    Installation

    1. HD Video baluns include a transmitter and receiver. Connect the transmitter to the HD CCTV camera; connect the receiver to an HD DVR or other remote HD CCTV equipment.
    2. Make sure the distance between the camera and the remote video device does not exceed the specified range for your cable type and resolution.
    3. Run Cat5e/6 cable (UTP) from the remote video device to the camera.
    4. Connect the Cat5e/6 cable to the transmitter and receiver. Note: HD Video baluns are polarity-sensitive.
      • Strip approximately ¼" (6mm) of insulation from the same two wires at both ends of the cable.
      • Push down the small tabs above the terminals and insert each wire into each terminal at both ends. No bare wire should be showing after insertion.
    5. Test the connection by powering up the CCTV camera and remote video device to confirm proper operation.

    Sample Applications

    • Single pair: ENFORCER HD Camera → Transmitter → Cat5e/6 cable → Receiver → Remote HD DVR, Monitor, Switch, etc.
    • Multiple cameras over separate Cat5e/6 runs: Each camera's transmitter connects via its own Cat5e/6 cable to a receiver mounted at the DVR — the baluns' small size allows multiple units to be mounted behind a single HD DVR.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Solution
Wavy or ghost image (through a processor/DVR, but not directly to monitor) Move the Cat5e/6 cable away from interference sources; ensure the same twisted pair connects to a balun at both ends; replace the cable.
Image background flutters between dark and light Remove a local power source, or adjust the monitor's brightness/contrast.
Image is wavy and shakes Try reversing polarity of the two wires at one end; reduce the Cat5e/6 cable length.
Image is weak or faded Replace with a higher-grade cable — Cat6 allows longer range than Cat5e.
No image Double-check Cat5e/6 and BNC connections; run a continuity test; check camera/monitor power; verify correct transmitter/receiver placement and polarity.
