    Manual for the SECO-LARM Enforcer E-941SA-300RQ 300-lb Single-Door Electromagnetic Lock with reversible magnet — ideal for cabinets, small enclosures, or pedestrian gates, with selectable 12/24VDC operation and complete mounting hardware included.

    Introduction

    When power is applied, the electromagnetic lock creates a strong magnetic field, attracting the steel armature plate mounted on the secured door. Once deactivated, the door functions normally with no residual magnetism.

    Installation Applications

    Depending on door/frame type and location, the installation may require a "Z" bracket, one or two "L" brackets, a "U" bracket (typically for glass doors), and/or plate spacers, in addition to the standard armature-mounting-plate approach.

    Installation Notes

    • Indoor use only.
    • Do not run power wires and signal wires in the same conduit — can cause interference.
    • Do not install a diode in parallel with the lock — can cause release delay and residual magnetism (the unit already has a built-in MOV surge suppressor).
    • Best location: inside of the secured door, with wiring concealed in the frame to prevent tampering.

    Installation Steps

    1. Fold the mounting template along the dotted line to form a 90° angle.
    2. With the door closed, find the mounting location near the upper free-moving corner of the door (or as close as possible to the upper corner of the door frame opposite the hinges).
    3. Place the template against the door and frame; mark drill points.
    4. Drill two holes in the frame and three in the door as marked; tap the guide pins into the armature plate's guide pin holes with a hammer.
    5. Drill according to your door type: Hollow metal door — 5/8" (16mm) and 5/16" (8mm) holes; Reinforced door — 1/4" (6.8mm) dia., 1" (25mm) deep, tapped for M8x1.25 thread; Solid core door — 1/2" (12.7mm) and 5/16" (8mm) holes.
    6. Sandwich the rubber washer between two metal washers on the armature screw, between the armature plate and door, allowing the plate to pivot and compensate for door misalignment.
    7. Tighten the armature screw enough to withstand a break-in attempt but loose enough that the plate can still pivot slightly — ensure the anti-spin guide pins seat in their holes. (Tip: use thread-locking compound for a lasting installation.)
    8. Install two mounting-plate screws loosely, position the plate correctly (double-check by holding the magnet in place), then tighten.
    9. Reverse the magnet if needed depending on right-swing or left-swing door use, then install the remaining three long self-tapping screws to permanently mount the plate.
    10. Drill the cable access hole; run power leads through the mounting plate and door frame hole.
    11. Remove the faceplate from the electromagnet and run the power leads through the large cable access hole.
    12. Push the electromagnet against the mounting plate so its ends are flush; secure with the Allen wrench through the hex-head mounting screws.
    13. Cut wires to length for the terminal block; set the voltage selection jumpers — two jumpers on all four pins for 12VDC, one jumper over the two middle pins for 24VDC. Incorrect jumper setting may damage the lock.
    14. Connect power wires per the wiring diagram, test the unit, then replace the faceplate and install the tamper caps (do this last — tamper caps are very difficult to remove once installed).

    Note: connect switching devices (e.g., push-to-exit switches) between the power source and the lock's positive terminal — connecting to the negative terminal may cause a delay in unlocking.

    Troubleshooting

    Checking coil resistance: remove the faceplate, disconnect the wire harness from the circuit board, and measure resistance across the Red/Green wires and Black/White wires with a multimeter — each coil should read 57Ω ±10%. Replace the electromagnet if either coil reads open, shorted, or out of range.

    Lifetime limited warranty for products sold and installed in the United States and Canada (1 year for all other countries). SECO-LARM's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of the returned (transportation prepaid) unit; no removal/installation/reinstallation costs are covered.
