Manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER DP-234Q Hands-Free Video Door Phone — a 2-wire video intercom system with door camera, hands-free monitor, and electric door strike support.

Overview

The DP-234Q lets you remotely and securely talk to visitors and unlock doors, gates, or other locking devices from a hands-free indoor monitor. Key features include:

• Camera with four LEDs for nighttime operation
• Simple 2-wire connection between camera and monitor
• Built-in microphone
• Adjustable color tone, brightness, speaker and ringer volume
• Camera and monitor turn off automatically when not in use
• Ability to easily connect a secondary monitor (sold separately)

Note: Products with model numbers ending in "Q," or with a round green "Q" sticker, are RoHS compliant.

DP-234Q (Complete Kit): 1x hands-free monitor, 1x monitor bracket, 1x AC power adapter, 1x camera, 1x camera bracket, 8x screws, 8x screw anchors, 1x camera screw, 2x wire connectors (2-wire). Compatible with an optional DP-234-MQ (hands-free secondary monitor) or DP-222-MQ (handset secondary monitor), sold separately.

Installation Notes

1. Unpack the video door phone and check the included parts.
2. Find a good location to mount the monitor and camera, ensuring enough 21AWG 2-conductor wire is available to wire both units.
3. Use only untwisted-pair wire; twisted-pair wire may cause interference.
4. Avoid mounting near sources of strong electromagnetic signals or other electronic devices that could cause interference.
5. Avoid mounting the camera in direct sunlight or exposing it to strong vibrations, rain, or other moisture.
6. The monitor contains no user-serviceable parts; opening it may damage sensitive components and void the warranty.

Installing the Primary Monitor

1. Position the monitor so the image can be seen clearly and controls are easily accessible.
2. Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark the screw hole locations.
3. Drill the mounting holes, including a hole large enough for the min. 21AWG 2-conductor wire running to the camera.
4. Attach the monitor bracket to the wall using the included screws and anchors, running the cable through the large hole.
5. Run wires from the first two terminals on the left of the camera (+ and –) to the monitor's "P1" plug, observing polarity. (If using only one monitor, the "P2" plug is not used.)
6. Connect the AC power adapter's wires to the "DC" plug on the back of the monitor, observing polarity.
7. Plug the AC power adapter into a 120VAC socket.
8. Test by pressing the request-to-enter button on the camera; the image should display clearly on the monitor.

Installing a Secondary Monitor (Optional)

Install the second monitor the same way as the primary monitor. For the DP-234-MQ or DP-222-MQ, run wire from the primary monitor's "P2" plug to the secondary monitor's "P1" plug, observing polarity.

Installing the Camera

1. Position the camera so the monitored area is easily visible, typically 5ft (150cm) above the ground. Avoid direct sunlight, rain, or snow exposure.
2. Cut a hole large enough to run the min. 21AWG 2-conductor wire (plus any lock-control wires) through the wall to the monitor location.
3. Run the 2-conductor wire from the camera to the primary monitor. The distance between the camera and farthest monitor should not exceed 246ft (75m).
4. Attach the camera mounting bracket to the wall using the included screws and anchors.
5. Run wires from the first two terminals on the left of the camera (+ and –) to the monitor's "P1" plug, observing polarity.
6. If using an electronic door strike or electromagnetic lock, connect the lock/strike wires to the relay connections on the back of the camera (see wiring diagrams below).
7. Adjust the camera speaker volume using the potentiometer on the back of the camera.
8. Push the two tabs on top of the bracket into the top of the camera, ensuring no wires obstruct proper seating.
9. Secure the camera to the bracket with the included camera screw.

Operating Instructions

1. When the request-to-enter button on the camera is pressed, the monitor rings twice, then any connected monitors switch on.
2. Press the Talk button on the monitor to hear audio and talk through the camera.
3. If connected to an electric door strike or other locking device, press the door unlock button to allow entrance. The lock remains unlocked for a few seconds, after which the camera and monitor turn off.
4. To view/hear the entrance at any time, press the Talk button — the camera and monitor switch on automatically. Press Talk again to switch the camera off, or it will switch off automatically after two minutes of inactivity.

Wiring Notes

Wiring diagrams cover connecting a secondary monitor and electric door strike (fail-secure configuration), with the camera-to-farthest-monitor distance capped at 264ft (75m). Always observe polarity when making connections.

If interference to radio/TV reception occurs, try relocating the receiving antenna, increasing separation between the equipment and receiver, or connecting the equipment to a different outlet circuit.

Warranty

This SECO-LARM product is warranted against defects in material and workmanship in normal service for one (1) year from the date of sale to the original customer. SECO-LARM's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of any defective part if returned, transportation prepaid, to SECO-LARM.
