    Installation manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER Curtain/Barrier Sensors (E-9611, E-9622, E-9644, E-9660, E-9680) — photoelectric beam sensors for windows, doorways, skylights, fence tops, and perimeter security applications.

    Overview

    The ENFORCER Curtain/Barrier Sensor line offers 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 separate photoelectric beam sensors in a slim-line (7/8" x 15/16") aluminum housing. They can be programmed to trigger on the simultaneous breaking of any single beam or two adjacent beams, and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor perimeter security use.

    Choosing a Location

    When used outdoors, place the curtain sensor under a roof or shelter to reduce false alarms from rain or snow. To prevent erratic operation or false alarms:

    • Do not mount near trees, bushes, or other leafy vegetation — wind can blow leaves/debris into the beams
    • Do not mount where roof runoff water might break the beam; if unavoidable, the sensor must be sheltered
    • Do not mount near reflective surfaces, which can prevent proper operation
    • Do not mount where the transmitter/receiver could be splashed by water or mud
    • Do not mount where the unit could be suddenly exposed to bright light (floodlight, headlights)
    • Do not let sunlight or any direct light beam shine directly on the sensor; if unavoidable, orient so the transmitter (not the receiver) faces the sun
    • Do not mount where animals or other objects could accidentally break the beams

    Mounting the Curtain Sensor

    1. Find a suitable location. The transmitter and receiver can be mounted at any angle as long as they're parallel and directly facing each other, with wires exiting the same end of both units.
    2. If using multiple curtain sensors, set each to a different frequency (see Selectable 3-Channel Beam Frequency below).
    3. The transmitter and receiver must not be separated by more than 50 ft. indoors, 25 ft. outdoors.
    4. Mount so surface wires do not exit from above the units (to prevent water intrusion); use silicone if this is unavoidable.
    5. Remove the end cap covers and pull the tamper buttons out, then mark mounting hole locations on the wall.
    6. Connect the wires before permanently mounting the units (see Wiring below).

    Running & Connecting the Wires

    Run four wires (2 x power, 2 x alarm signal) from the alarm control panel to the receiver. Shielded cable is strongly suggested. Two power wires must also be run to the transmitter (or run six wires to the receiver if connecting the transmitter's power through the receiver: 2 power source + 2 alarm signal + 2 to transmitter).

    If burying wires, run them through electrical conduit; shielded cable is strongly suggested. If running wires along a wall, use armored cable. Note: unused terminal screws should be tightened; grounding may be necessary depending on location.

    Programming (Transmitter & Receiver Jumpers)

    Each transmitter/receiver has a jumper labeled "JMP1" controlling LED behavior and "JMP2" controlling the number of beams required to trigger the receiver (1 beam = triggers if any single beam is interrupted; 2 beams = triggers only if 2 adjacent beams are interrupted simultaneously). A third jumper, "JMP3," selects one of three beam frequencies (A, B, or C) to avoid interference between multiple units installed nearby — both the transmitter and receiver of a pair must be set to matching frequencies. If a different frequency is selected, cycle power on both units after changing the jumper.

    Connecting Multiple Curtain Sensors

    Several units can be connected together in parallel to the same power supply output and alarm input of an alarm control panel, either as a standard setup (shared alarm channel), dual sensors on separate alarm channels, or in-line on a single alarm channel.

    Testing & Final Mounting

    1. Temporarily mount the transmitter and receiver where expected so position can still be adjusted.
    2. Connect the transmitter and receiver.
    3. Once powered, test by breaking two adjacent beams or any single beam (depending on programming).
    4. The curtain sensor also has red LEDs usable for testing purposes.
    5. After testing and aligning, permanently mount the unit.
    6. Test again after final mounting.

    Removing the Lens Caps (Outdoor Use Only)

    For best results outdoors, remove the transmitter lens caps only — do not remove the receiver lens caps. Slide out the transmitter's circuit board, carefully pull off the lens caps (4 for the E-9611-2x25, 8 for the E-9622-4x25, 12 for the E-9644-6x25, 16 for the E-9660-8B25, 20 for the E-9680-10B25), then slide the circuit board back in.

    Tamper Protection

    The receiver and transmitter each have a tamper switch on one end to protect against unauthorized opening. There is no separate tamper output to the alarm control panel — instead, the alarm output is triggered if the end cap cover with the tamper button is removed, if the transmitter/receiver is moved out of alignment, or if power is disconnected.
