    Installation and troubleshooting manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER E-941SA series Electromagnetic Locks — 600-lb and 1200-lb holding-force magnetic locks for securing doors against unauthorized entry, with optional LED/bond-sensor status indication (600PQ and 1K2PQ models).

    Introduction & Features

    When power is applied, the electromagnet creates a strong magnetic field that is attracted to the steel armature plate mounted on the secured door. Once deactivated, the door functions normally with no residual magnetism.

    Installation Overview

    1. Fold the mounting template along the dotted line to form a 90° angle; close the door and find the mounting location near the upper free-moving corner (opposite the hinges).
    2. Place the template against the door and frame; mark drill hole locations (two holes in the frame, three in the door).
    3. Depending on door type — hollow metal, reinforced, or solid core — drill armature and sexnut screw holes per the size/depth specified for that door type.
    4. Tap guide pins into the armature plate's guide pin holes.
    5. Sandwich the rubber washer between the two metal washers on the armature screw, allowing the plate to pivot slightly to compensate for door misalignment.
    6. Tighten the armature screw enough to resist forced entry, but loose enough for the plate to pivot. Use thread-locking compound for a long-lasting installation.
    7. Loosely install the two short self-tapping screws through the mounting plate's slotted holes so the plate can be adjusted to form a 90° angle with the armature plate, then fully tighten with the four long self-tapping screws.
    8. Drill the cable access hole; run power leads through it and through the mounting plate.
    9. Remove the electromagnet's front cover, run power leads through the large cable access hole, then position the electromagnet flush with the mounting plate and secure with hex-head mounting screws (Allen wrench provided).
    10. Cut wires to length, set the voltage selection jumpers for your input voltage (12V: two jumpers on all four pins; 24V: one jumper over the two middle pins), then connect power per the wiring diagram.
    11. Test the unit, replace the front cover, and install the tamper caps — this should be the very last step, as tamper caps are very difficult to remove once installed.

    Note: Failure to correctly set the input voltage may damage the lock. Connect switching devices (e.g. push-to-exit switches) between the power source and the lock's positive terminal — connecting to the negative terminal may cause a delay in unlocking.

    Installation Notes

    • Indoor use ONLY.
    • Best mounting location is the inside of the secured door, with wiring concealed in the frame to prevent tampering.
    • Do not run power wires and signal wires in the same conduit — this can cause interference.
    • Do not install a diode in parallel with the lock — this can cause release delay and residual magnetism.
    • Additional accessories (Z-brackets, L-brackets, plate spacers, "U" brackets for glass doors, armature-mounting plate holders) may be needed depending on door type and mounting location.

    Maximum Wire Distance

    Refer to the manufacturer's complete wire-gauge chart at www.seco-larm.com. As a general guide, longer wire runs require heavier gauge (lower AWG number) wire for both 12VDC and 24VDC operation to avoid voltage drop at the lock.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Checks
    Door does not lock / bond status LED doesn't illuminate Check wire tightness at terminal block; confirm power supply is connected/operating; measure coil resistance; check rubber washer is installed and undamaged.
    Door locks but can easily be forced open Verify electromagnet/armature plate alignment; ensure contact surfaces are clean and rust-free; verify 12/24VDC is present with a meter; check coil resistance; check rubber washer.
    Delay in door releasing The electromagnet already has a built-in metal oxide varistor for interference suppression — do not add a second diode.
    No relay output Confirm power is connected and on; verify lock alignment; check NO/NC/COM wiring.

    Checking Coil Resistance (Low/No Holding Force)

    1. Remove the faceplate.
    2. Disconnect the wire harness from the circuit board.
    3. Using a meter, measure resistance across the Red/Green wires and the Black/White wires.
    4. Each coil should read 48Ω ±10%.
    5. If either coil shows an open, short, or incorrect resistance, replace the electromagnet.

    Warranty

    This SECO-LARM product is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of sale to the original consumer customer, limited to repair or replacement (SECO-LARM's option) of the unit if returned with transportation prepaid. Void if damage results from acts of God, misuse/abuse, neglect, unauthorized repair/alteration, or faulty installation.
