    Installation manual for the Russound P75 Dual Source Power Amplifier — a 2-channel amplifier with auto-source switching, dual audio line inputs, and Bridge Mono mode for higher-powered single-channel output.

    Product Overview

    The Russound P75 is a 2-channel dual source power amplifier with auto-source switching. It features two audio line inputs with a loop-out to another zone, receiver, or device from the Line 2 source. Rated at 75W per channel into 4 ohms and 60W into 8 ohms. With the Stereo/Bridge Mono switch set to Bridge Mono, both channels combine for a higher-powered mono output rated at 160W into a single 8-ohm load. Each output channel has robust protection circuitry for reliability and safety.

    Thermal Protection

    Special circuitry safeguards the amplifier under thermal overload. Thermal protection engages only after extended high-volume operation without adequate ventilation, and/or when speaker impedances are below the minimum rating — the amplifier automatically stops output. If this occurs: turn off the amplifier, verify speaker impedance is above minimum, check for adequate ventilation, and make adjustments. The amplifier can be powered back on once it has cooled to safe operating temperatures.

    Protection Circuitry

    Special circuitry also safeguards against short-circuit conditions (which a faulty speaker can cause). If this occurs, turn off the amplifier and check speakers for shorts.

    Installation

    The P75 can be placed on a shelf in an equipment rack, table, or cabinet. Follow the required clearances for proper ventilation and heat dissipation — do not block ventilation openings or place the unit in an enclosed built-in installation (bookcase, rack) without proper ventilation.

    Front Panel Controls

    • Power: front panel switch manually turns power on/off.
    • Power LED indicator: RED = On, AMBER = Standby, No Light = Protection Mode.
    • Speaker selector: select speaker pair A (main) or B (auxiliary). Speakers A and B can be used together as long as they are at minimum 8-ohm impedance.
    • Balance: adjusts output balance between left/right channels (default: center).
    • Volume: adjusts speaker output volume. In Bridged mode, set volume at minimum first, then adjust to desired level.

    Unswitched Outlet

    A built-in 120 VAC outlet on the back panel provides 400W unswitched power for a device such as a small powered subwoofer. Power is provided as long as the P75 is plugged in, whether or not the unit itself is powered on.

    Manual / Auto On

    A rear panel switch selects manual or automatic power-on. For manual control, use the front panel Power button. For automatic power-on, set the rear switch to Auto On and place the front panel power button in the "On" position — when music is sensed on either input RCA connector, the amplifier automatically powers on; when the signal ends, it turns off.

    Speaker Cable

    Use minimum 16-gauge and maximum 12-gauge stranded copper cable. Avoid stray strands and keep polarity consistent.

    Front and Rear Panel Layout

    Front panel: Power button, Power LED indicator, Speaker selector, Balance control, Volume control.

    Rear panel: Primary Input, Secondary Input/Output, Stereo/Bridge switch, Speaker 'A' Output, Manual/Auto On switch, Speaker 'B' Output, Unswitched outlet (120VAC), Fuseholder.

    System Configuration — Stereo Mode with Dual Sources

    Connect the source you listen to most often to the Line 2 (secondary) input, and the less-constant source to the Line 1 (primary) input. Whenever the Line 1 signal becomes active, it takes priority over the Line 2 distributed audio signal. Once Line 1 is muted or turned off, the P75 automatically switches back to Line 2.

    1. Unplug the P75.
    2. Set the Stereo/Bridge switch to Stereo.
    3. Connect the audio line output from a stereo preamplifier or source to the left/right Line 2 input jacks (secondary source).
    4. Connect the audio line output from the primary source to the Line 1 input jacks the same way.
    5. Connect speakers to the terminals, observing proper polarity.
    6. Restore power and use the front panel Balance and Volume knobs to adjust.

    Example diagram: A Multiroom Controller (secondary source) connects via Line Out RCA cable to the P75's Line 2 input; a DVD player (primary source) connects via Line Out RCA cable to Line 1; speaker cables run from the P75 to 8-ohm speakers.

    System Configuration — Bridged Mode

    In Bridge Mono mode, the left and right channels combine for a higher-power mono output. Note: minimum impedance for the total load connected to a bridged channel pair is 8 ohms.

    1. Unplug the P75.
    2. Set the Stereo/Bridge switch to Bridge Mono.
    3. Connect the line-out from a preamplifier or source to the Line 2 inputs.
    4. On Speaker A, connect the speaker cable's negative (-) lead to the L(+) terminal, and the positive (+) lead to the R(+) terminal (per the Bridge markings on the rear panel terminals). An 8-ohm minimum load is required.
    5. Restore power to the amplifier.
    6. On the front panel, set Balance to center and Volume to minimum, then adjust to the desired level.
    7. Confirm the Balance control remains centered.

    System Configuration — Basic Speaker Connection

    The P75 has a minimum 4-ohm load rating in stereo mode. Connect up to one pair of 8-ohm speakers on A and one pair of 8-ohm speakers on B — for example, Living Room speakers on A and Dining Room speakers on B, both wired back to the P75 via speaker cable from the Line Out source.

    System Configuration — External Volume Controls

    The P75 can drive multiple pairs of speakers using impedance-matching volume controls and/or speaker selectors. Connect up to four (total) impedance-matching volume controls to the amplifier on the Speaker A connection only. Example configuration: Patio and Bedroom zones each with 8-ohm speakers connected through Autoformer-based volume controls (and optionally an EZB-8 Modular Connecting Block), wired back to the P75's Speaker A output via speaker cable.

    Warranty

    The Russound P75 is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of purchase — Russound will replace defective parts and correct workmanship defects without charge for parts or labor. The unit must be installed and used per its written instructions; service must be performed by Russound, with prior written permission, at the owner's expense.

    Not covered: damage from abuse, accident, misuse, negligence, or improper installation/operation; power surges and lightning strikes; normal wear and maintenance; altered/modified products; products with removed/defaced identifying numbers. Products purchased from unauthorized dealers/distributors (including retailers, mail-order, or online sellers not authorized by Russound) are not covered under warranty.

Write the RA number on the shipping label and ship to: Russound, ATTN: Service, 1 Forbes Road, Newmarket, NH 03857. Pack the unit with at least 3 inches of resilient material to protect it in transit.
