"Read Me First" quick-start guide for setting up Chromecast built-in on Russound MBX-Series products — recommended for ALL installations.

    Overview

Setting up Chromecast is quick and easy on Russound MBX-Series products. The Google Home app walks you through all the steps and can even configure Wi-Fi settings on a new Russound device. Download the Google Home app from the App Store/Play Store before proceeding.

    For Wired Ethernet Installations

    1. Make all wiring connections including Ethernet, and power up the MBX product
    2. From a device on the same network as the MBX product, open the Google Home app and select "Discover." Follow the prompts to set up the device
    3. Name the MBX product (refer to the MBX product's installation manual for recommended names). Note: Google Home appends "speaker" automatically — you can remove it afterward by editing device settings
    4. Finish configuring the MBX product using WebConfig

    For Wi-Fi Installations

    1. Make all wiring connections and power up the MBX product
    2. From a device on the network you want to add the MBX product to, open the Google Home app and select "Discover." Follow the prompts, including Wi-Fi network settings
    3. Name the MBX product as above
    4. Finish configuring the MBX product using WebConfig

    Important Note

Ideally, MBX devices should be set up using the homeowner's own iOS/Android device and Google Home app. If that isn't possible, an installer can set the device up on the installer's Google Home app; once configured and named, the homeowner (and anyone else with a Google device on the homeowner's network) can cast to and communicate with the MBX products. However, only the original Google Home account user can reconfigure or rename Chromecast devices like the MBX products — this can be an advantage for installers wanting to prevent a customer from inadvertently tampering with device settings.
