  • Rokonet COMET RK210PR — PIR Motion Detector Installation Manual

    August 31, 2026 2 min read

Installation and specification manual for the COMET Series wired PIR/PET motion detector (RK210PR/RK210PT), covering mounting, terminal wiring, jumper settings, and lens replacement.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and specification guide for the Rokonet/COMET Series PIR motion detector (RK210PR) and PET-immune detector (RK210PT), including the no-tamper variant (RK210PRNT). These wide-angle wired PIR detectors are designed for cost-effective residential intrusion detection.

    Model Overview

    • COMET PIR (RK210PR) — Wide-angle 12m x 12m (40' x 40') detection pattern with high catch performance and false-alarm immunity.
    • COMET PET (RK210PT) — 8m (26') 90° pet-immune detector, tolerant of a dog up to 42 lbs (20 kg), 2 cats, or multiple rodents.
    • RK210PRNT — Version of the PIR detector without the tamper switch.

    Installation Overview

    1. Open the cover.
    2. Choose a mounting location — avoid direct sunlight and heat sources. The detector needs to be positioned so an intruder will cross the infrared beam pattern.
    3. Remove the knockouts for mounting screws and cable entry.
    4. Insert the cable and attach the base to the mounting location. (The bottom of the unit can be drilled without removing the PCB.)
    5. Loosen the PC board holding screw and position the board according to the lens being used.
    6. Set the pulse-count jumper to match the desired sensitivity (see Jumper Settings below).
    7. Replace the front cover, apply power, and wait for the unit to stabilize (2+ minutes) before walk-testing.

    Mounting Heights and Coverage

Lens Mounting Height Room Size / Range
    Wide angle 2.4m (7'10") Short: 3-6m (10'-20'); Long: 6-12m (20'-40')
    Long range lens (RL407, accessory) 2.4m (7'10") Range 18m (59') — use pulse count 1 only

Higher-than-typical mounting heights are also supported (see figure 8c in the full manual).

    Terminal Connections

    • 12VDC: Power supply input
    • ALARM: N.C. dry contact relay
    • TAMPER: N.C. dry contact relay (RK210PR only)
    • CE: Cable entry
    • MS: Mounting screws

    Changing Lenses

Lift off the clip holding the lens by pressing on its holding tabs, then slide the lens out of the cover. Reverse the procedure to insert a new lens.
