    Complete installation guide for the RISCO WatchOUT Dual Technology Outdoor Detector (RK315DT series), covering both standalone Relay Mode and ProSYS BUS Mode installation, mounting, DIP switch settings, lens types, and diagnostics.

    Overview

    The WatchOUT is an outdoor intrusion detector combining two Passive Infrared (PIR) channels and two Microwave (MW) channels for reliable detection with reduced false alarms. It can operate as a standard relay detector connected to any control panel, or as a BUS accessory connected to a RISCO ProSYS control panel via RS485, gaining remote control and diagnostic capability.

    Mounting Considerations

    • Typical installation height: 2.2m (7'2"); adjustable range 1m–2.7m (3'3"–8'9").
    • Default lens: Wide Angle, 15m (50 ft) at 90° (RL300).
    • Keep a minimum 5m (16 ft) distance from moving objects (swaying trees, bushes) to avoid false alarms, and ensure no obstructions block the field of view for either PIR or microwave detection.
    • For best detection, position the unit where an intruder is likely to cross the coverage pattern at a 45° trajectory.
    • For heavy vehicle traffic or targets beyond the intended range, reduce MW sensitivity and/or tilt the unit downward (this can reduce pet immunity).
    • Pet immunity: up to 70cm (2'4") animal height when mounted at 2.2m (7'2"). Every 10cm (4") reduction in mounting height reduces pet immunity by 10cm. For low installations below 1.7m (5'6") requiring pet immunity, use the supplied RL300F low-wall/fence lens.

    Wall Mount Installation (Relay Mode)

    1. Open the front cover (unlock C1) and release the internal base (unlock I1).
    2. Choose a mounting style:
      • Flat mounting: open knockouts B1–B4 (wall mounting), T1 (back tamper), and W2/W3 (wire entry) on the external base.
      • 45° angle mounting (left side): open knockouts L1/L2, T3, W5/W6; remove and replace the tamper bracket with the supplied flat tamper bracket; insert the tamper lever onto T5/T3 and secure. For right-side 45° mounting, use the mirrored knockouts (R1/R2, T2/T4, T6, W7/W8).
    3. Route external wires through the selected knockouts, secure the external base to the wall, then route wires and tamper wires through the internal base and lock it to the external base.
    4. Close the front cover after wiring and setting DIP switches, then walk-test the detector.

    Changing back tamper position: the back tamper defaults to the right side (rear view). To move it to the left: remove tamper screw 1, confirm tamper spring rests over the tamper wire base, confirm the plastic tamper bracket rests over both, then re-secure the screw into the new position. Listen for an audible "click" when the tamper spring engages the wall. For pole installations, the tamper can be relocated to the bottom right of the internal base.

    Microwave Adjustment & Walk Test

    Adjust the microwave coverage using the trimmer on the PCB. Two minutes after applying power, walk-test the protected area to verify proper operation. On uneven surfaces, slide the PCB inside the internal base to the height marking that matches your installation (1.0m, 1.5m, 2.2m, or 2.7m, printed on the PCB), or use the standard swivel accessory. To reduce detection range, slide the PCB up or tilt the swivel down.

    DIP 1 must be ON to enable LED indications. Only one LED is active at a time — the first technology to detect (PIR or MW) lights first, followed by the red Alarm LED.

    Standard Swivel Installation

    The detector ships with a standard swivel for flexible mounting angle. Key steps: open the front cover and release the internal base; open the W1/S1/S2/S3 knockouts on the external base; relocate the back tamper to the swivel's S5 position; mount via direct wall mounting or with the optional Conduit Metal Swivel Adaptor (CSMA, P/N RA300SC0000A, sold separately) for conduit-routed wiring in 16mm or 21mm diameters; connect the external base to the swivel using the dedicated snaps and securing screws; tilt/rotate to the desired angle and lock the angle-locking screw (each click = 5° of vertical/horizontal adjustment); reassemble and walk-test.

    Replacing Lenses

    1. Unlock the six screws holding the lens sleeve to the back of the front cover.
    2. Gently push the lens from the external side to release the protective sleeve.
    3. Release the lens clips to disconnect the lens from the sleeve.
    4. Install the new lens by placing its 4 clips into the matching sleeve holes.
    5. Reinsert the sleeve over the sealing rubber and re-secure the 6 holding screws.

    Lens types included: Wide Angle (RL300, 15m/50ft @ 90°), Low-Installation Pet Lens (RL300F, for mounts below 1.7m/5'6"), Long-Range Lens (RL300LR, up to ~23m/75ft), and Barrier Lens (RL300B, narrow 5° coverage). Each unit ships with the standard swivel plus all three replacement lenses (pet, long-range, barrier) in addition to the installed wide-angle lens.

    BUS Mode Installation (ProSYS)

    Up to 32 BUS detectors can be installed on a single ProSYS RS485 BUS, saving cabling and enabling remote control/diagnostics. For maximum stability, keep total BUS wiring under 300m (1000 ft).

    Detector ID (DIP Switches 1–5)

    Set a unique ID (01–32) per detector using DIP switches 1–5, following the same binary-style pattern used for other ProSYS BUS accessories. DIP switches 6–8 are unused in BUS mode.

    ProSYS Programming Summary

    1. Add the detector via the installer menu Quick Key [7][1][9][5] (BUS Zones), assign it type ODT15, and ensure the programmed ID matches the physical DIP switch ID.
    2. Assign the detector to a zone via Quick Key [2][1] — either a physical zone (1-8 or a wired zone expander) or a virtual zone on a BUS zone expander (BZ08/BZ16). In the Termination category, select [5] BUS Zone and link to the detector's BUS ID.
    3. Configure detector parameters via Quick Key [2][0][3]: LED mode (Off / Red Only / 3 LEDs, default 3 LEDs), PIR+MW Sensitivity (Low/Medium/Normal/High, default Normal), MW Range (Minimum through Maximum or Trimmer-controlled, default Trimmer, max 23m), Alarm Logic (PIR+MW AND, or PIR/MW OR — default AND), Lens Type (Wide Angle default, or Barrier/Long Range), Anti-Mask (Enable default), and Arm/Disarm LED behavior.
    4. System-level parameters [1][2][36] (AM=Tamper) and [1][2][37] (VBR=Tamper) control whether Anti-Mask or vibration events raise a tamper alarm versus a trouble event (both default No).

    Diagnostics

    From the User Menu: Maintenance → Diagnostic → BUS Zone (Quick Keys [4][9][1]), enter the zone number to test. The system reports: detector input voltage, PIR channel 1/2 DC level (0.1–4V) and AC noise level (0–4VAC), and MW channel 1/2 DC level (0.1–4V) and AC noise level (0–4VAC) — useful for verifying detector health remotely.

    Compatible with ProSYS software v4.xx+ and programmable via UD Software v1.8+.
