Complete user manual for the Ring Spotlight Cam Mount — a wired security camera with built-in spotlight, motion detection, two-way talk, and siren.
User manual for the Ring Spotlight Cam Mount — a wired security camera with built-in spotlight, motion detection, two-way talk, and siren, designed to extend security coverage around your entire property.
The Spotlight Cam lets you monitor your home, prevent crime, and protect your property from your phone, tablet, or PC. It mounts to a UL listed weatherproof electrical box and connects to standard household wiring (100-240VAC, 50/60Hz).
Recommended mounting height is 9 feet, with the motion sensor parallel to the ground — this optimizes detection of human-sized objects up to 30 feet away. For wall mounts, face the mounting port downward; for ceiling mounts, face it in the direction you want the camera to see. Ensure the electrical box (including threaded plugs) is weatherproof — use sealant if necessary.
Alternate mounting angle: the included weatherproof box covers are designed to mount the camera pointing downward from an elevated position. To mount at a different angle, hold your chosen box cover in the desired orientation and follow the standard wiring-harness instructions.
Auxiliary light control: wire other lights (e.g. floodlights) to be triggered by the built-in motion detector — total connected load must not exceed 150 watts. Connected lights also turn on when manually enabling the Spotlight Cam's lights in the app.
Upgrading an existing floodlight: disconnect the wires to its motion sensor, unscrew and remove the sensor, and replace it with the included wiring harness. Ensure the lock-shaped symbols on the harness face up (wall mount) or toward you (eaves mount). For LED floodlights, connect the red wire from the Spotlight Cam to the black wire on the LED driver circuit, then white to white.
| Symptom | Solution |
|---|---|
| Cam not powering up | Check for a light switch controlling power to the electrical box and make sure it's switched on. |
| Flashing red light | Wi-Fi password entered incorrectly. Forget the network on your phone, reconnect with the correct password. |
| Flashing blue light | Too far from router for a decent signal — consider a Ring Chime Pro to boost Wi-Fi. |
| Flashing green light | Possible internet connection issue. Unplug modem/router for 40 seconds, plug back in, and retry setup. |
| Can't find temporary Ring network | Toggle your phone's Wi-Fi off and back on after 30 seconds; confirm the Cam is connected to power. |
| Can't hear visitors talk through app | Check microphone permissions for the Ring app in your phone's settings. |
| Poor video/audio quality | Check internet speed (2+ Mbps recommended) and signal strength in Device Health; add a Ring Chime Pro if signal is weak. |
| Nothing else works | Hard reset by holding the setup button 15 seconds, wait 30 seconds, and repeat setup. Try turning off cellular/Bluetooth, or use a different mobile device. |
