Adding a Device to the Z-Wave Network (Inclusion)

    Smart Start Inclusion

    1. Initiate the add-device flow in the Ring Alarm mobile app — follow the guided add flow instructions in the app.
    2. Scan the QR code found on the device's packaging or on the back of the device.

    Classic Inclusion

    1. Initiate the add-device flow in the Ring Alarm mobile app.
    2. Select "Add manually."
    3. Select Z-Wave and select Add.
    4. Enter Learn Mode on the joining device.

Adding the Base Station to a Z-Wave Network (Learn Mode)

The Ring Base Station itself can be added to another Z-Wave network via classic inclusion mode:

    1. Start inclusion mode on the primary controller.
    2. From the app UI, go to the controller's device settings screen → Advanced options → select Z-Wave from "Protocol Adapters" → select "Learn Mode." A DSK will be displayed.
    3. Select "Begin Learn Mode" in the UI.
    4. When inclusion completes, the LED on the base station turns solid blue.

Note: Joining another Z-Wave network via Learn Mode is only available when the base station is not already paired to any other devices.

    Removing the Base Station (Exclusion)

    1. Start exclusion mode on the primary controller.
    2. From the app UI, go to the controller's device settings screen → Advanced options → select Z-Wave from "Protocol Adapters" → select "Learn Mode." A DSK will be displayed.
    3. Select "Begin Learn Mode" in the UI.
    4. When exclusion completes, the LED on the base station turns solid blue.

    Association — Lifeline

The Ring Base Station's Group 1 is the "Lifeline" group, which can hold one device. The base station sends a device-reset-locally notification to this group.

    Factory Reset

    1. Using a paper clip, press and hold the reset button.
    2. Wait for the network and power LEDs on the back to start blinking amber.
    3. Release the reset button.

Use this procedure only if the network's primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.
