    Overview

    The RCS RS15 Remote Temperature Sensor is a wired remote sensor for use with RCS TS15/TS36 Wall Display Unit (WDU) thermostats. It provides accurate temperature readings from remote rooms/zones and can be averaged with the thermostat's internal sensor or used as an outside temperature sensor.

    Installation Instructions

    1. Select the best location for the sensor to provide accurate temperature information. Locate away from windows and doors; avoid outside walls, direct sunlight, and heating/cooling vents.
    2. Install wiring from the Wall Display Unit to the sensor location. Recommended wiring: Cat 5, 300 ft. max for all installed sensors.
    3. Remove power from the Wall Display Unit before connecting remote sensor wires.
    4. Remove the cover from the sensor case.
    5. Route wiring through the holes in the base and circuit board.
    6. Connect wiring to terminal J1.
    7. Set the sensor address on dipswitch SW1.
    8. Attach the sensor base to the wall and install the cover.
    9. Power up the Wall Display Unit and verify the installed sensor's temperature is displayed. If nothing displays, check the wiring/address — see the WDU manual for sensor temperature operation.
    10. After power-up, check sensor calibration from the Wall Display Unit and verify the offset is zero (or your desired offset) — see the WDU manual for calibration instructions.

    Sensor Address Setting (SW1 Dipswitch)

    Not all Thermostat Wall Display Unit versions support all sensor addresses — check your thermostat manual for details.

    • REV A thru D TS15 Wall Display Units only support Sensor Address 1 (SW1 = 00)
    • REV E and later TS15 Wall Display Units support full sensor addressing
    • TS36 Wall Display Units support full sensor addressing
    Address SW1 A1 SW1 A2 Function
    1 (default) 0 (Off) 0 (Off) Sensor Address 1 replaces the WDU internal sensor
    2 1 (On) 0 (Off) Sensor Address 2 averaged with WDU internal sensor (or Address 1 if present) for a 2-sensor average
    3 0 (Off) 1 (On) Sensor Address 3 averaged with Sensor Address 2 and WDU internal sensor (or Address 1) for a 3-sensor average
    4 1 (On) 1 (On) Sensor Address 4 is used as an Outside Temperature Sensor

    Wiring

    Wiring connects at terminal block J1 (pins 1-4: −, +, C, D). Sensor address is set via dipswitch SW1 (positions 1 and 2, labeled A1/A2). The remote sensor connects to the Wall Display Unit via the DATA, CLK, +5V, and GND lines on the WDU's Remote Sensor Connector. The sensor case includes mounting holes for wall installation.
