Quick install guide for the Qolsys IQ Shock Mini-S (IQSM) supplementary door/window shock sensor.
Quick install guide for the Qolsys IQ Shock Mini-S (IQSM) — a supplementary door/window shock and tamper sensor with an integrated reed switch, designed for use with the Qolsys IQ Panel. This is a quick guide for experienced installers; refer to dealer resources for the full manual.
Recommended for exterior doors, sliding glass doors, and windows.
Important: The IQ Shock Mini is intended to be installed on doors (with or without glass inserts) and on window frames — but not directly on the glass surface itself.
Two dip switches customize device behavior:
Sensitivity Level dial: Turn clockwise for more sensitive, counter-clockwise for less sensitive.
Place your panel in "Auto Learn" mode.
Open and close the case to "tamper" the device, then customize the name and settings as desired and touch "ADD."
Calibrate the accelerometer from the final mounting position by moving dip switch 1 to ON (installer test mode). In this mode the LED flashes RED when it detects a shock level strong enough to trigger an alarm at the control panel. There are 3 total sensitivity settings; the LED flashes each time the threshold changes. No RF transmission occurs during installer test mode.
Gently hit (with the palm of your hand) the surface where the device is installed. Gradually increase pressure, or turn the shock sensitivity dial clockwise with a small screwdriver, until the desired response is obtained. Ensure the device is not triggered by accidental vibration (wind, birds, window coverings). Normal traffic or door/window operation should not trip the sensor.
WARNING: To avoid personal injury while testing sensitivity, do not apply pressure to glass inserts or windows.
Move dip switch 1 back to OFF once the desired sensitivity is set, and verify the device communicates properly with the panel.
