Installation Guide and Owner's Manual for the PulseWorx KPLD7/KPLR7 Keypad Load Controllers — an all-in-one Keypad Controller and Light Dimmer/Relay in a single UPB (Universal Powerline Bus) device.

Overview

The Keypad Load Controller Series transmits and receives UPB digital commands over existing power wiring to remotely turn on, off, and dim other UPB load control devices — no additional wiring and no RF signals required.

• KPLD7 — Dimmer version, built-in dimmer rated at 400W
• KPLR7 — Relay version, handles up to 8 Amps

Both mount in any wall box with neutral, line, load, and ground wires. Available in White, Black, and Light Almond. Buttons are engraved: Scene 1, Scene 2, Scene 3, Scene 4, Off, Up Arrow, Down Arrow (custom-engraved CEB buttons also available).

Installation

1. Disconnect power to the wall box (remove fuse or turn off breaker) before installing
2. Remove any existing wall plate and device from the wall box
3. Use wire nuts to connect: KPL's white wire → Neutral, black wire → Line, red wire → Load
4. Fit the KPL into the wall box, secure with mounting screws, install the wall plate
5. Restore power at the circuit breaker

Configuration & Setup Mode

Configure manually or with UPStart Configuration Software v6.0 build 57+. To enter/exit Setup Mode, simultaneously press and hold the Scene 1 and Down Arrow buttons for 3 seconds (all LEDs blink once entering). Setup Mode times out after 5 minutes if not exited manually.

Changing a Scene's Preset Light Levels

1. Press the pushbutton to activate the currently stored scene in the Wall Switch Dimmer(s)
2. Use the local rocker switch on the Wall Switch to set the new desired level
3. Rapidly tap the pushbutton 5 times — the load flashes once to confirm the new level is stored

Factory Default Settings

To restore defaults: put the KPL into Setup Mode, then press and hold Scene 2 and Off simultaneously for ~3 seconds until indicators light up.

Backlit Pushbuttons

Each pushbutton has a white LED for back-lighting and to indicate activated loads/scenes. Back-lighting is enabled by default; pressing a button makes it illuminate brighter than the others.

Operation

Once installed and configured, single-tap, double-tap, hold, or release the pushbuttons to transmit preset commands over the powerline according to the stored configuration.
