Installation instructions for the Professional Partners BackBoxx™ Popp™ — an in-wall/in-ceiling speaker back box.

WARNING: Incorrect installation may result in product failure. Professional Partners is not responsible for installation.

    Standard Installation

    1. Place the BackBoxx™ Popp™ vertically into a 16-inch-on-center wall cavity, or horizontally into 24-inch-on-center ceiling joists. (See Special Installation Instructions below for closer joist/stud spacing.)
    2. Attach the BackBoxx™ Popp™ to the outward-facing edges of the studs using a staple gun.
    3. (Optional) Attach a speaker or component bracket to the studs directly in front of the BackBoxx™ Popp™.
    4. Using an awl, from the back side of the BackBoxx™ Popp™, open one Wire Dimple Locator™ in either end of the box.
    5. Run the wire through the Wire Dimple Locator and leave a wire lead.
    6. Seal the opening around the wire and Wire Dimple Locator with sealant.
    7. Attach the wall vapor barrier film to the BackBoxx™ Popp™ flanges using approved sealing tape.
    8. When installing the speaker, allow the speaker magnet to contact and push on the dome inside the BackBoxx™ Popp™.

    Special Installation Instructions

To install the BackBoxx™ Popp™ in joists spaced more closely than 24 inches: cut straight down one end of the box, outside the dome area, from one flange to the opposite flange. Overlap the two pieces of the BackBoxx™ Popp™, seal the overlapping seam using approved sealing tape, and continue installation starting at step 3.
